The ecliptic or ecliptic plane is the orbital plane of Earth around the Sun. It was a central concept in a number of ancient sciences, providing the framework for key measurements in astronomy, astrology and calendar-making.

Saturn is a month away from its equinox, at which time its rings appear exactly edge-on & effectively disappear from view. Unfortunately, Saturn will be behind the Sun on the exact day of its equinox, but its rings will appear unusually edge-on for all of 2025. Come back in 2032 for Saturn's solstice, at which point its rings will be maximally face-on (I believe to the extent of revealing the Cassini division as a complete ellipse, without obstruction by Saturn's disk).
Also, fuck this timer. My post count has dropped 95% because of it, and I was never a shitposter. We'll see if this one makes it...

Compare with Saturn near its subsequent solstice.
