What's the point of being a math major?

to own the physicists

I don't think I can own much of anyone with my math degree. more like I get owned.

I thought matematicians always topped and physicists always bottomed?

Mathematicians think they always top but they actually are bottoms. Consider that physics categorically only cares about things that actually exist, while math still believes that "zero apples" is the same as "no result"

You can get a job as a statistician or in finance.
But yes overall, a waste a time. Like all of stem. They want Asians not Americans.
I'm sitting at McDonald's watching two Chinese kids do homework they look like they are 5.
How do you compete with that?

Nature:
>trivially solves NP-hard or even harder problems constantly in real-time across an unfathomably vast interdependent system across all of time and space at the same time
Hairless delusional ape:
>I'm smarter than physical reality, and factoring primes is hard.
Honestly based as fuccc

What other reason would there even be,?
Sheesh it should be obvious.

h you can convince academic institutions to pay you to do math for the rest of your life, and if you can’t then you can still get a job as comfortable as any other major, but you got to spend four years studying something beautiful like math instead of something sucky like finance or physics or engineering.
Anonymous at Mon, 31 Mar 2025 04:17:24 UTC No. 16633415
(sorry, previous post got cut off)
Because it is fun and interesting, and so worth spending years doing. And if you are good at it (and lucky) you can convince academic institutions to pay you to do math for the rest of your life, and if you can’t then you can still get a job as comfortable as any other major, but you got to spend four years studying something beautiful like math instead of something sucky like finance or physics or engineering.
