Before becoming famous as a pro fighter he also was a bouncer so he probably has some experience in that kind of fighting as well. That said self defense instructionals are all just cash grabs. Go train for real abs you’ll be fine 9/10 times in any kind of street fight

This. From a survival standpoint, Bas is correct in that you should immediately ratchet up the violence to 11. Most people trying to be an asshole aren't even considering the idea that they could be sucking air from a trach tube for the next 6 months. But this isn't a great idea long run, considering the amount of ways there are to identify and catch you.

and that's kinda the issue w/ some parts of bas' legendary self-defense instructional: he demonstrates scenarios in which HE'S the aggressor and INITIATES the violence after someone merely insults his wife. that is assault, plain and simple, no matter how funny it is.

In his one fight in the UFC he ate shit for the first half of it and then started to exchange with Randleman and it went to a judge's split decision that a lot of people felt was robbing Randleman. he had some legendary fights in Pancrase though,

In fact, it's literally impossible to win a street fight, as the hypothetical opposing side of a made-up philosophical zombie will always win no matter what, as he will always have a knife or gun to kill you with or a gang of ninja philosophical zombies waiting for the right moment to ambush you and butcher you.
You would believe that the fact someone has to win in a fight means that at least by mere chance and with some fighting knowledge you'd stand a chance to win at least every other one, however it's the case that the stranger will ALWAYS win and there's no point in neither training nor even trying.
