๐งต Which rules whould you remove from mma?
Anonymous at Sun, 25 Dec 2022 19:55:11 UTC No. 130432
For me, some limitations are questionable.
>12-6 elbows
Almost any mma fan knows it's a stupid rule.
>Stomp, soccer kicks, knees to the head of grounded oponent
It's cruel but so is "ground and pound" and it's legal. I would legalize all ground kicks, except head stomps.
>Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his or her head or neck
As far as I know, straight piledrives are banned but throws with arc are legal, even if the oponent lands on his head. Are these these things really so much different to ban one of them?
>Headbutts
I know they're devastating but so is Silva's kick to the face and nobody cares. Headbutts are cool and should be allowed.
>Grabbing the fence
I don't know why it's illegal but it was banned many years ago in vale tudo so I guess it was annoying.

No weapons. I would, and I'm pretty sure everyone on here, would watch MMA if they were using wrecking bars and combat knives.

Grabbing the fence was banned because if someone got their fingers caught they could potentially get them torn off.
Fence grabbing needs to stay banned.

Does the UFC have a rule about fake teeth? Could I technically replace all of the my teeth with pure platinum, if I can that would level my chances of winning greatly. My opponents would be basically punching a 10 kilogram platinum bar. But it's probably better to just get the canines replaced. If so, I want to remove the rule of 'No Biting' because I want to be able to brutally maul my opponent.

An inherent flaw with MMA and most sport fighting is the whole glove-bumping thing they do at the beginning of the round. It totally kills the momentum of the fighter. If you want to win a fight, you have to have the mentality of trying to kill the other guy and to throw all of your power at him and the glove thing just makes it too cordial or too weak for lack of better word. Glove-bumping should be banned.

Anon. I think people want SOME degree of of fighter longevity instead of most having a 3 bought average before consistent permanent lower body paralysis. Its not about being cruel, but simply the practical concern of having fighters that wont have a 20% chance of never being able to come back each time they enter the ring.

Stomps, knees and kicks to the head of grounded opponent for sure.
12-6 elbows for sure.
Headbutts, sure why not.
Spiking, no to big of a injury risk to the spine.
Fencegrabbing, no, to big risk of injury to the fingers.
MMA in the Gi would be interesting to see actually.

I would remove all local and national laws and ordinances that forbid fighting to the death. MMA would become the world's preeminent sport overnight if it had deathmatches.

I'd like some kind of ring events to come back. Stedyx makes a hybrid cage/ring, with a few ropes up top but a cage at the bottom to keep anyone from rolling out. I'm not sure if it's the best design since they're not great at presenting their product.

5 minute rounds (should be increased)
Allow Knees to the head if you're both grounded (ONE ruleset)
Allow 12-6 elbows
Gloves should be updated to make eye pokes harder
Elbows should be allowed in amateur MMA as well

Longer rounds could be cool for lighter classes, but your average HW and LHW are gonna be snoozers. I'm all for making less eyepokes, but every itteration of it also makes grappling awkward due to hand mass and bunching at the wrist. If you can come up with something for that, I think everyone would be in.

Gloves like this are common everywhere except for the UFC and angle your fingers slightly down which works well .
I agree the heavy boys probably can't do over 5 rounds but most other weight classes would benefit from longer rounds IMO

No gloves, everything allowed except eye pokes, head stomps, dick kicks and elbows to the spine.
I hate the glove part of any sport, it just makes everything not real, it cuscions the punch, allowing you to punch harder, it gives greater area to the punch, making it more hard hitting, and overall, it's jsut a realistic scenario, like, they don't give gloves for the feet at UFC or other events, a foot to the head or a knee to the face isn't really that different from a nude punch, it's the perfect example of useless tradition done to make evrything more appealing, no, it's people fighting, of course there will be blood and it will be gruesome to some extent.

Ban on 12-6 elbows, soccer kicks and headbutts at least. Those are normal streetfighting techniques so they should be allowed.
Anonymous at Fri, 20 Jan 2023 14:33:43 UTC No. 132899
Any technique legal in any combat sport should be legal in MMA because that proves it is relatively harmless.
>Headbutts: Legal in Lethwei and Combat Sambo
>12-6 elbows: Legal in Muay Thai
>Soccer kicks: Legal in Pride, nobody died
>Pile driving: Legal in wrestling
>Grabbing clothes: Legal in Judo and BJJ
And so on. There is no reason to ban a technique for being dangerous when other combat sports use it without problems.
Techniques that stay banned: Techniques that aren't legal in any combat sport, like kicks to the balls, neck cranks etc.

I doubt that a mma fight with eskrima mixed in will escalate to punches when you have a stick on your side.
