🧵 WW Military knife

>Fairbairn system: Literally everywhere, in fact many memes of knife fighting started there, eg. that there is no unarmed defense against knife
>Arditi system: *crickets*
Why is this? All we know about the Arditi is that they used an ice pick grip and mauled straw dummies. There is also a kind of manual in Italian but it seems fake since the style described is rather defensive and not very effective, while the Arditi were known to be aggressive and rather successful. I'd have expected something simple and based on attacking similar to the Piper System.
So what gives? Anyone know more?

>Why is this?
Because fairbairn is hyped up by internet larpers who don’t even train his system to begin with and have no idea more than one style of fighting with a knife can be effective. They’re kind of retards to read fairbairns “time table of death” and think they know all there is to know. They’re the kind of retard who thinks forward grip is the only way to do itwhile neglecting that faorbairns system included the reverse grip too.

the german stormtroopers in WW1 who ran circles around the French and British didn't train in any fighting techniques, and mostly only focused on athletics, track and field running, and calisthenics. To storm across the battlefields and still have the energy afterwards to maul tommies when they found them

This is the great skirt puller of almost every fighting style. If you opponent posses greater physical attributes, you are far more likely to lose, no matter how much "better" you are.

Fairbairns system is based though. It didn't make it into his books for whatever reason but his whole knife MO is to countercut to the wrists while staying the fuck out of stabbing range, its the best thing you can learn in one day and if you learn the grabs and throws in his books too you've got backup if it goes wrong
I hate it too when people hype anyone without understanding why but there's a reason he's so famous and regarded and the only thing more annoying is reflexive 4chan contrarianism

Yes it did
>but his whole knife MO is to countercut to the wrists while staying the fuck out of stabbing range
No that’s only part of it
>its the best thing you can learn in one day and if you learn the grabs and throws in his books too you've got backup if it goes wrong
Lmao, fairbairns system is basically the same as every other contemporary military martial art of time period and was filled with plenty of stupid shit too, not the least of which was the knife design itself which many disliked for its brittle tip and tendency to snap altogether.

fairbairn knife fighting is hot garbage and is no different than the hot garbage most schools want to teach you about.
To end this once and for all. Knife fighting basically shares the same skills as boxing wrestling.
