Unironically one of the most extreme sports out there is cave diving. Cavebros- where yall at?

That isn't a sport. I feel like the term sport is getting lost here. You're actually supposed to win at a set goal, not just do something dangerous.

The goal is to not get trapped and drown at the bottom of the sea like retard - if you make it back, you won.

Seems like an awfully elaborate and expensive way to go caving.

You win if you find buried treasure and can haul it out

Scuba diving is never sport, its an activity.
Freediving on the other hand is one of the most challenging and beautiful sports.
Now cave freediving, thats something really extreme.

I would be scared of being eaten by a giant squid

Your troubles would be more banal. Such as accidentally kicking up a cloud of dirt, obscuring your vision sufficiently so that you lose your guideline and can't find your way out before you run out of oxygen. Probably clawing at the walls as you take your last, watery breaths. Your mother doesn't get to bury you and she pictures your limp, waterlogged corpse, alone and in utter darkness.

I think I'll stick to snorkeling, personally.

there's no giant squids in narrow, dark caves

Haters don’t know how carrying gear to the entrance of a cave is a sport in and of itself. Absolute mastery of trim and breath control for buoyancy, technical discipline when laying line and navigating, teamwork, you mess up you die (mostly open water divers who don’t heed the warnings and enter caves without training). you plan your dive and make it out, you win! Seems pretty obvious it is a sport if you aren’t a professional getting paid to cave dive.

Just doing something dangerous or difficult doesn't make it a sport.

These are some mini caverns in Ireland - I'm not a cave diver, just a recreational diver. The caverns aren't large enough to get lost in, but its fun to look into them.
