Chael should've tried better ground defense and takedown countering to at least escape. Every time Jones clinched up with him he just lifted him up somehow and slammed him back down until finally he got nailed in the face by his elbows.

I will give you the weight advantage, even though it is a heavy weight bout and Gardner was a fill in for Royce Gracie (Yoshida had size advantage over gracie...). However Yoshida was no pushover and certainly not green as this was his 10th pride fight, and they were both Olympic gold medalis in their sport. Yoshida was 220lb, so it's not like he was exactly small and he had 10 fights up to this point, while Gardner was making his debut off a 6 week camp. Yoshida had no control the entire match and landed 0 takedowns. This is really the best example of judo vs wrestling in my book, since both are elite level grapplers, who can't strike for shit, in a compromised rule set that doesn't give either a clear advantage. This shows that a wrestler who doesn't know what he's doing can beat a judoka, simply because the wrestler can control where he wants the match to be.

My point was wrestling beats judo, I didn't mention boxing. Also, Yoshida beat Mark Hunt on his debut, who has a similar size advantage and was a world class kickboxing. So your point on boxing beats judo is kinda weak as well considering a wrestler with 6 weeks of of striking beasted a judo guy, while the judo guy beasted a kickboxer with some ground training.

It just depends on whether you're wearing clothes that allow judo grips or not. My first choice would be training both, second choice wrestling, third judo. But as an adult who did not have an opportunity to wrestle growing up (child abuse), judo is is my only option for decent stand up grappling.
