๐Ÿงต Punching

Anonymous No. 146679

Is it normal that punching while wearing boxing gloves feels extremely awkward for me? If I punch a bag full force while wearing boxing gloves, sometimes I "fuck up the angle" and my fist "slides" at an angle and I hurt my wrist, as it bends. However, if I go bare knuckle/just wraps, this angle issue does not manifest, ever. I can feel the shock going into my metacarpals and my wrist, usually in a beautiful and satisfying angle, and my wrist doesn't bend and certainly doesn't hurt as much. Is this because I used boxing gloves that are "too round"? Would this issue stop were I to use more "square" or "cubic" gloves, or am I basically saying retarded shit at this point and I just need to learn proper technique?

Yeah its normal. Repetition will make it better.

Just use oldschool bag mitts.

you might not be rotating your hand enough on the extension. On a standard cross you want your shoulder to come to your cheek and a good rotation into a square delivery is indicative of that.

If you want to learn real punching, don't use gloves.

This. You need to rotate the hand right before impact. Also wear hand wraps. I needed to in the beginning. But overall your form is lacking and needs improvement. Wear the wraps until You've stopped hurting your wrist and then keep wearing them.
