If UFC stayed "no rounds no rules" to this day, how would it look like now, assuming it wouldn't be banned in all states?

Anonymous No. 147001

how can anyone look at these guys and think either of them knew the first thing about fighting

also there were always rules, then later on more rules were added to make bjj easier.
and also it would've died because it's boring. The rounds are a necessary break in the action to reset and avoid stalling like royce did when he just hung on and did nothing for 30 minutes.

Most everyone under middleweight never even competes, and a fair bit between that and lhw. Cage wrestling dominates the meta since using your fingers in it are still a go. Ironically, super points sparring guys would eventually make a show when someone realized no rules mean you don't actually have to engage to win and can just run backwards pitter pattering. Sure, they're gonna get caught, but it has a few years where it's big, working well for some and not for others.

Instead of rounds which can be annoying (see Jones vs DC 1), I'd rather solve this problem by telling the fighters to stand up after 2 minutes of stagnation (see Bloodaxe vs French Viking)

They have the chance of selling it more like a Mortal Kombat or Bloodsport tournament, but real

Think Pridefc with elbows and that'll be pretty close.

I believe the sport would still be a succes to this day

I would just add some rules so that ppl don't run away from the fight

What exactly says that they don’t?

how the fuck do short rounds and referee standups make bjj easier?

This "rules help grapplers" is a meme which people repeat without second thought. They say that ground kicks ban protects grapplers without thinking about why would a grappler lay on the ground when a striker is standing (unless the grappler is knocked out but then the fights is over anyways).

Most of the complaints in that particular regard is around being unable to kick your opponent's face while he's heel hooking you and you're also on the ground. The move itself becomes much more urgent to perform under that circumstance. Otherwise I generally agree that the rules don't necessarily favor the way people think. Any ground fighter would gain heavy favor if you could drive knees into skulls while grounded.

You are dumb as fuck. The rules absolutely save pussy ass grapplers from getting their skulls caved in.

How does one knee into retardation? Drive them at you? Or, are you so full of rage your fat boy thumbs got caught by the auto correct? CTE is awful.

You don't remember the gracies (read: all brazilians) and ryan hall bootscooting around daring people to get in their guard bro

I like this idea. Just reset when the match had reached an obvious stalemate.

Dudes... They ended up putting the rules in to force engagement. Because in the real world, no one is going to get on that retards level. Btw, thanks for another example why BJJ doesnt work in real life. See how long scootybooty is gonna work on asphalt & concrete. Truth is, even if it took a long time. A striker could just demolish a grappler pulling guard, plain & simple. Which is kinda evidenced by the standard tactic of swaming a fag rollers guard & going for the ground and pound.

Only 19% of matches end with a submission. Why? Because it's high effort/low reward. And i mean this on every level. Imagine how much less it would be with no rules.

BJJ killed everyone in the first UFCs which had no ground strike rules, up until other people learned BJJ.
