Is Keysi effective for anything fighting related?

Anonymous No. 147660

I worded that wrong, what I mean is if Keysi is effective as a fighting art like how Thai boxing is?

Yeah, you see the same concepts in a few other styles. Like the philly shell in boxing.

By itself? Not really. But who am I to draw the line where a stylee uniqueness makes it a whole new thing.

Just off of seeing one demo clip I would say that it really depends how it's trained.

There are some good principles there like ducking and weaving from boxing, solid close range elbow strikes and some silly looking grappling which if you took a bit more seriously might end up like greco roman or Japanese jujitsu grappling.

The problem is that at a glance the majority of instructors look like con-men and wouldn't know how to effectively apply the style.

Generally speaking if you are willing to alter how you perform the techniques and spar against a wide variety of other styles then you can make any style work.

Keysi is the most fucking retarded thing that has come out of my country.

Double dubs of truth. This is how it goes with many bulshido styles. Good theories, horrible practices & teachers.

Anonymous No. 147886

>Too broad and lacks any specialist movements. It tries to teach a bit of everything and ends up being too raw and superficial. If one wants to learn how to strike, kickboxing or Muay Thai would be better options. If one wants to learn how to throw, judo or wrestling would be more effective. If one wants to learn how to grapple on the ground, Brazilian jiu-jitsu would be more suitable.
>Overhyped and mainly used for Hollywood movies, because its combat style looks good on screen but not in real life.
>Not tested or proven in real combat situations, unlike other martial arts that have competitions, tournaments, or sparring sessions. The KFM does not have any objective way to measure its effectiveness or quality, and it relies on anecdotal evidence and testimonials from its practitioners. Moreover, the KFM does not have any quality control or standardization, as different instructors may teach different versions or interpretations of the method.
>Not suitable for weapon defense, as it focuses too much on head protection and leaves the body open.
>Unique elbow defense called the pensador guard, where one raises one elbow upwards like a boxer and hugs it with the other arm in a horizontal line across the face.
>Exposes the torso, arms, legs, and groin to attacks from knives, bats, bottles, etc.

Even for what it is explicitly advertised for, it's fucking retarded.

Anyone to advertises themselves as a street fighter almost certainly isn’t. I’ve never met a “street fighter” who wasn’t dope smoking retard who tells tall tales about how he totally fucked up that guy at a bar one time. I’m fact, he’s had so many street fights he can’t even remember them all.

That's because Justo Diéguez, the guy who started Keysi, is a choreographer/stunt man for movies and worked on Batman.
