Muhammad Ali
Aleksandr Karelin
Hakuho Sho
Each of them the greatest of all time in their respective sport. What other GOATs are there in the world of /xs/? Doesn't need to be a martial artist.

Yamashita competed at a higher level and was even more dominant. I don't think Kimura is in the conversation for GOAT. Top 10 for sure, but he's overrated due to the Helio fight. It wasn't exactly his fault because he had to pro wrestle for cash as Judo wasn't lucrative or super international yet.

Good point, let's just say that Gama was the GOAT of freestyle while Karelin's the goat of greco-roman.

The discussion is who's the GOAT. Not who's most famous. Even then, Riner is probably more famous if we're talking worldwide and not just American BJJ students.

Riner doesn't have the technical skills to be considered a GOAT. He has a limited game and is only as successful as he is because of his athleticism and natural attributes.

Janja Garnbret in women's sport climbing (niche field I know)
>Began competing in the adult climbing circuit in 2015 at age 16, has since participated in 45 Lead Climbing World Cup events, missing the podium on only four occasions. Since 2016 she's taken the season gold five times and silver the remaining two. In 2023 that 2nd overall was despite missing 3/6 competitions due to injury.
>In Bouldering World Cup events she's missed the podium just three times (although she hasn't entered as many competitions). In 2019 she became the first, and so far only, athlete to win every event of a season, as well as coming first in all six qualifying rounds and four of the semifinal rounds.
>There have been four Climbing World Championships since 2016. She's been lead world champion twice and taken silver twice, while in both boulder and combined she's taken gold all three times she's competed.
>First Olympic gold medallist in sport climbing
>Decent outdoor climber too with the first ever female onsight of an 8c (5.14b) sport route

Mayweather is also the undisputed GOAT of trolls. His entire life is a farce designed to fool his opponents into underestimating him. He even pretended to be illiterate and everyone believed him lmao. Absolutely unbeatable.

Yes. Karelin, Ali, and Hakuho were all insanely athletic, but they'd never have gotten to where they were if they didn't have the technique to back them up. You shrink any one of them down to half their size and they'd still be pound-for-pound GOATs. You can't say the same for Riner.
