🧵 Power Slap

Anonymous No. 165406

This is the most retarded sport to have come out in recent years. Calling it a sport is even stretching it, it's more of a spectacle for the lowest dregs of the earth.

Anonymous No. 165409

It's the sprinting of combat sports. The scope of competition shaved down to a very narrow point. It's mostly a genetic contest. Who has the most fast twitch in their good arm and whatever combo of factors makes for a good chin. It is more retarded than sprinting, but just because it gives you brain damage. We've been refining competitions until they measure very discrete things for a long time now. This is the logical consequence of boxing becoming boring. Just the knockouts please.

Speed running brain damage that is only interesting as a novelty for Twitch streamers to gawk at for a week then forget about.

With things like KOTS getting popular and Pride FC nostalgia they should made a pseudo-street fight promotion (no gloves or just Pride ruleset).

You know what……I kinda like it. Though I do agree it’s more a spectacle than sport but the retardation and harm inflicted on these water heads just…draws me in you know.

would slapping a sturdy tree with all your might 500 times a day be peak-training for this "sport"?

And that's why it's brilliant. I don't want to see a pair of prancing sissies grapple in the octagon or watch the two boxing matches that matter every year, I want to see brutes brutalising each other for negligible prize money and small amounts of prestige. This is the true essence of sport, and if you disagree you have something wrong with you.

Maybe. Or maybe a rhino-skulled samoan will always beat the breaks off you through a diet of beer and parking lot beatings. It's hard to say at this point.

This is also how I feel about it. The simplistic brutality and cheapness and disregard for its participants just appeals to my more base feelings

I don't really like that the guy the goes first get a chance to knock the other guy and he won't be able to answer back with his own slap. But it is entertaining to watch them get brain damage

Shits for mouth breathers like you then. Not for much longer though as the UFC are desperately marketing it to try to save it's numbers. There's no skill, it's literally who has the harder head.
I don't see it lasting much longer. If you're a smoothbrain that just likes to see KOs, watch Karate combat. It's way more fun.

To an extent I’d say you can’t really enjoy MMA without having some experience in combat sports, just because otherwise it’s hard to tell what’s going on sometimes. This is why Power Slap became a thing - it’s MMA for retards who’ve never done any combat sports and can’t understand any form of fighting beyond two fat dudes standing still and slapping each other once every couple of minutes.

BKB is really cool. It scratches that violence itch but there's still a ruleset and the people are actual athletes instead of fat guys and retired NFL players

Seriously making me reconsider palm strikes and some forms of Kung Fu...

If you want to see more realistic application of them in a fight, check out Combat Jiu Jitsu. Palm strikes from the top might as well be sumo shoving type strikes, keeping a wide base so you don't get swept or taken down from a leaned over standing.
