lmao. It's an old VFC '74u. I was the third owner when I bought it fifteen years ago, although I was the one that put most of the wear on it. The thing's seen hundreds of games and extensive modding and repairs since I've had it. Actually my other AK is way more fucked up though, it's just nasty. Internally both guns are in excellent shape, completely rebuilt both earlier this year with high end parts, everything's very smooth.

I was trying to mod a fat Polish bakelite grip to fit over an Ares slim motor, but I've just about hit the wall. I've removed almost all the material I can from the inside of the grip, and it's still a half inch away from fitting. May work on it some more this weekend, but for now it's back to the crappy faux plum.

Since RPKbro never posted his support gun, I'll throw up a pic of mine, with an actually successful bakelite grip mod I did, not that it took much.

I can't mount the scope since it doesn't have a side rail, was initially thinking of modding one on for the lulz, but it's already so impractical. An RPK would shit all over this thing. Even the '74u would.

Is there any real reason to run real optics on an Airsoft gun? Other forums online swear the quality difference is worth it but I can’t get past spending 300+ on something for a part time hobby, how accurate can an Airsoft gun even be?

Specifically looking at JJairsofts replica of a side mount PK-A sight for like 100$

Anonymous No. 173465

>>173463
Real Russian optics are dogshit anyway

As far as I go are Vortex ones because they're cheap, good warrantny and I only run GBBRs so cheap airsoft sights rattle themselves to bits on them

Anonymous No. 173470

>>173463
Red dots, holos, etc. are just dead weight on an airsoft gun, the only reason people use them is the rule of cool. Real or replica, it doesn’t make you any more accurate. PK-As weigh an entire pound, so you’re just making yourself slower with no benefit, although they do look cool. Up to you to decide what your budget is for gimping yourself to look ballin’ in Facebook pics. Something with magnification can be helpful ‘occasionally’ for spotting at bigger games, I doubt you benefit much from having the world’s best glass though.

Anonymous No. 173471

>police asks for the armourer's documentation
>What? I don't have anything else besides these documents

>tell them it's a gas operated BB gun
>"Oh, its like a spring gun, I see. Then that's it, we'll call you in one or two days to pick up the paperwork"
>they thought I was registering an actual firearm
>you can only own a pistol if you are working for a private security firm, working for the police/military or are a member of a shooting club and have a license to own firearms
>they didn't ask for anything besides my ID which isn't enough to prove any of those things

Maybe it's just my 'tism but I don't understand why they didn't ask about what type of weapon it was, or why they didn't straight up ask for my license first

Anonymous No. 173475

CQB doesn't matter much, I'll throw anything on it for cool. But long range stuff where you're trying to tag someone poking out of a window across the street, etc...

Replica optics are straight from China with minimal QA. I've gotten many that wouldn't zero at all because the adjustment mechanisms are broken and would barely move if at all. At a certain point, I could have bought a real optic for the cost of all the broken replicas I've received. That's where the quality difference is worth it. I'm not talking about a $1000 Aimpoint or something, but still.

When you're young and poor, you have all the time in the world to tinker and fiddle around. But when you're old and have responsibilities, time is a luxury and you're willing to pay for reliability. Plus, you presumably have a job, so $300 isn't a big deal.

It also helps if you have real firearms you can transfer stuff to and from.

Anyway, plenty of real reasons. Depends if they can apply to you.

Anonymous No. 173491

>>173470
Basically what anon wrote. Only thing I would add is that certain magnification allows you to track your BBs past 50m onwards, allowing you to hit further away by adjusting your aim depending on where the BBs fly. I pointshoot a majority of rounds unless I really need to touch someone 50+m out, those are the moments I feel like missing out not having a 3x+ sight on and just running irons. Real sights generally have a better sightpicture that is more lenient to positioning of your head, but I wouldn't say it is worth dropping 300+$ for an optic unless it is for the LARPfactor, which is based.

The Aimpoint takes forever to run out of battery, doesn't fog, is equipped with a kill flash & clear lens covers, but is bulky. The AT3 isn't as battery efficient, can fog under extreme humidity, can only be equipped with a rubber cover & is compact. Night games are a weird beast. It's sorta along the lines of flashlights: if you use one, wouldn't that also show your position? The point is that you use them TO KILL. And then run away cuz now everyone knows where you are.

I've been to some urban fields that had some pretty long, unobstructed sightlines between buildings, saw many players not respecting them since they figured they were out of range of the average gun, a compact DMR could do some work there. It would definitely be shit for the indoor killhouse style fields though.

>>175244
Tell me that the real G3s are not the Crye precision ones that I'm finding that go for over 300$. Because if that's the case even a 100€ clone is totally worth it. I saw a Delta Tactics shirt+pants combo (Not sure if its a G3 clone, I know jack about clothes/camo) go for around 90-100€ which I heard is decent, specially if you are just getting into it or want something that will last you somewhat long, although the colors seem to fade somewhat easily between sunlight exposure and washing.

On another note, I had a dream I was playing on a massive airsoft field located at a school with some ruins around it. My team's entry point was from a parking lot and we had to go through a destroyed school bus to get into some of the ruins.

Anonymous No. 175266

There's little point in buying $100 shirts and pants for a hobby. If your life LITERALLY depended on it, then sure. Maximum advantage for maximum gain.

For $100, it should be waterproof, kevlar-lined, triple-stitched, or whatever to justify buying instead a $20-40 pair of tac pants, and not just have kneecaps sewed in.

But then again, it's airsoft. We're already trying to explain to people why you need to spend $500 on a bb gun.

Double Bell/Dboys probably 'shoots' decent, but they have pot metal trunnions and sight blocks that 'will' break if you're rough with the gun, and then you're royally fucked because I doubt you can get replacements.

Buying an AK-12 at the moment feels weird to me though since Russia hasn't even finalized the design, literally a new version of it dropped just a few months ago. I wouldn't want to spend a bunch of money on what may be retroactively seen as a prototype.

don't get caught up in roles, especially as a beginner, airsoft is tag+hide and seek with extended reach. You've got a good basis, just have fun. Start with the AEG rifle, not the gbb pistol, you'll find range is much shorter and slower than an actual pistol, and recoil is non-existent.
cyma, asg and jg make decent starter shit, and you're buying a gearbox and fancy case for it, so get one that looks cool (and has plenty of aftermarket magazines, such as ak or m4 mags).

Talking about durability with CYMA AKs is fun. I have a CYMA RPK that I got for free from a friend because he busted the rear trunnion on it. He got it from another friend because he busted both the front and rear sight blocks.

Imagine making an entire chart to highlight the most 'durable' of the least durable AK series.

is it possible to 3d print the entire aeg with plastic, excluding barrel, motor, trigger assembly, nuts and springs, and expect it to work for more than a dozen of shots? I don't have a printer, not even an airsofter, I just watched a few vids and got curious if FDM parts can withstand the pressure, then I checked thingiverse and there were no projects like this, only body kits and externals

I find P90 hicaps to be absolutely unusable. 190-rnd midcaps are great. Even the frankenstein 2500-rnd boxmag with M4 hicap is usable if a bit rattly. Also consider how you intend to carry a bunch of P90 mags around.

Why? The cost in printing (if you can even print that big) would be outrageous compared to just buying the AEG.

mag size difference.jpg

Anonymous No. 177225

PSA for any AK users, in case you didn't know. There are two different size AK mags (at least the 5.45 style, idk about 7.62.) The 'short' style emulates the length of a real mag when it's inserted into the gun. The 'long' style emulates the length of a real mag when it's outside of the gun.

The long style is easier to pull out of some AK-specific pouches, but they look slightly off when they're inserted because of their extended length. The short style has the opposite pros/cons.

I've got a few real steel magazines that I'm going to convert to airsoft, and only the short style internals will fit. I know for a fact that G&P, CYMA and MAG brand are short, although MAG brand magazines cannot be used for conversion.I'm hoping some AK bros will jump in on this and measure some of their mags from the top of the rear locking lug to the bottom of the floorplate so I can gather some more info on what magazines are suitable for this project.

Specna EDGE, AEGs are generally better for starters due to being cheaper, more weather-resistant, and simpler to run overall - that being said, if you're deadset on a GBBR (whether for the realism, the more straightforward teching, or some other aspect), I've heard both are good, with the MWS leaning towards raw efficiency (and also shooting consistently within most field limits due to being made for the JP market) and VFC's ARs leaning towards realistic replication of real functions (ex. trigger group)

Yeah it's the one I have, the internal sear is too weak to stand a vsr spring without breaking, and the internal chamber is too short to fit a standard spring so you have to cut it down. The only upgrade kit available right now is one from a dude called the bolt action dude. Since the internal cylinder isn't standard and the chamber is shorter than usual the max fps you'll get on it will be approximately 400 fps with .2 gram BBS (with the upgrade kit, out of box it's 300 fps on .25g). Not a great rifle performance wise but if you use it without sights (which you will have to install manually by adapting the rifle to take a PSU) it's quite alright, it feels fantastic to handle and is pretty fun to use but I guess that's subjective.

I love those walmart buckles, at least when they were dirt cheap. I also love DIY P90 slings. The ones I see most often and used to use is with the buckle and attachment point on the long wraparound, and a simple velcro wrap the short way just to keep things in place.

Now I just use one of these that I got from china.

you assume too much, this are materials cannibalised from old gun bag that is gonna get retired sooner or later. that, and a loop from old ak sling. also sewing equipment that was leftover from steering wheel cover kit.

Lads Ive been looking to buy a pistol or five, can you recommend top 1911 choices?

Im looking for ultra tacticool / metal gear / oper8tor ones (not high speed race guns like hi capas or mallninja with lots of cutouts)

For instance I like this Baton Silent Hawk and the Socom Gear Novak X. Anyone tried them?

Money is not a conocern and while I want good game performance Im looking for crispness, reslism of shapes and versatility of parts to tweak with real 1911 aftermarket stuff

Just scored an Arcturus Saber mk16 urgi (9.5in) for about $260 usd new in box at a pawn shop. I did some quick phone research on the spot and it looked to be one of their higher end models, externals seem nice.

Any first upgrades you’d recommend? The internals sound pretty good but are a bit sluggish. The guy said the seller had to buy a cheap battery in order to test/sell it, so it probably has something cheap in there.

>In the immediate, first diremption of self-knowing absolute Spirit its 'shape' has the determination which belongs to immediate consciousness or to sense-certainty. Spirit beholds itself in the form of being, though not of the non-spiritual being that is filled with the contingent determinations of sensation, the being that belongs to sense-certainty; on the contrary, it is being that is filled with Spirit. It also includes the form which appeared in immediate self-consciousness, the form of lord and master over against the self-consciousness that retreats from its object. This being which is filled with the Notion of Spirit is, then, the 'shape' of the simple relation of Spirit to itself, or the 'shape' of 'shapelessness'. In virtue of this determination, this 'shape' is the pure, all-embracing and all-pervading essential light of sunrise, which preserves itself in its formless substantiality. Its otherness is the equally simple negative, darkness. The movements its own externalization, its creations in the unresisting element of its otherness, are torrents of light; in their simplicity, they are at the same time the genesis of its being-for-self and the return from the existence [of its moments], streams of fire destructive of [all] structured form. The [moment of] difference which it gives itself does, it is true, proliferate unchecked in the substance of existence and shapes itself to the forms of Nature; yet the essential simplicity of its thought moves aimlessly about in it without stability or intelligence, enlarges its bounds to the measureless, and its beauty, heightened to splendour, is dissolved in its sublimity.

It sure is. I haven't been able to play since June so I just ordered another camo smock. Can't really justify buying new guns if I won't play with them.

Finally I can buy a spare mag and a spare gun to deal with any future issues.

No, get a we. All gbbrs eat parts, but atleast with the we, you can afford to keep it running. ($35 trigger pack instead of $85+ trigger packs)

>>178784
Hell no, what a waste of money, sluggish bolt travel, 75 dollar mags. Too bad the lct g3 midcaps don't work either, otherwise it would of been so le ebic

>>179966
Kwc c02 1911's are the only respectable option, it may be cheap but nothing else is as crisp, plus lots of spare parts

>>179968
Just get an 11.1 lipo with high discharge rate like 25c. If want to go really crazy on it, get a g&g green bucking.

KJW makes a decent option if you don't want to spend TM money (picrel) and don't mind either going out of your way to ensure the gun's running as efficiently as possible, only clearing around one mag per gas fill or (if your field has a high enough velocity limit) using CO2 mags, otherwise TM is by far your best bet for maximum aftermarket compatibility and being actually efficient enough to clear more than one mag on gas - in both cases, real grip panels fit with slight modification AFAIK (KJW will require a bit more permanent modification in the form of removing material to accommodate the grip being spaced for CO2 mags) and threaded outer barrels are readily available (strongly recommend getting one that doesn't tilt, or converting one that does into one that doesn't - that way you can have your can and not have an impact on efficiency) - that all being said a Hi-Capa will provide most of the same handling while not having to worry about gas efficiency at all, though if you want real grip panels than a proper single-stack 1911 is your only choice
>>183048
>KWC CO2 1911s are your best option
this has to be bait, those things are absolute hot trash that were barely above garbage 10 years ago and are absolute garbage now, most parts aren't common beyond KWC replacement parts that won't fix any of the problems they have, the mags are overpriced to fuck, hold very few BBs (shit, even WE's no-shit single-stack mags hold more IIRC), aren't efficient and leak like a motherfucker without nonstop maintenance, the gun's tolerances are looser than a two-cent whore after a Black Friday through Cyber Monday sale, and it arguably has the worst grip panel compatibility out of all of them - recommending someone forgo TM 1911 compatibility for one of these is ignorant at best and malicious at worst, KWC 1911s are literally one of the worst guns they make even by KWC standards
