Weightlifters want to do their own thing and the training style doesn't cross over much. You do not really become a better weightlifter training for these. For example, Big Z, Pavlo, Luke Richardson, Bill Kaz, and Nick Best have done powerlifting before during and after their strongman careers even though they are mainly known for strongman. Its the same with highland games and stone lifting events. A few weightlifters have made the crossover to strongman, but it is much rare. Mikhail Koklyaev and Mark Henry are two that cross over to strongman, but both had a powerlifting background before strongman. Aleksey Lovchev tried strongman and it inured him pretty bad.
Weightlifting fans seem to have more crossover with crossfit fans nowadays too.
Maybe worth including, maybe not.

This is probably a retarded question but is there a website that catalogs different local events in the US or something? I've tried googling but can't find anything.

Iron Podium has all the results and upcoming listing for shows to do.
I don't think they are compiled for any ranking though. Not sure you could easily do that anyway because there isn't much standardize across events.
Strongmanarchives has all the bigger shows results

Are oly lifts good for speeding up my other lifts? I can lift heavy after ss and pp but I move the barbell like a snail.

Anyone got a stream for OSG? Broke arse but I want to see JF make his comeback and make bets on natty Brennan taking the title.

No. I don’t think this comp is big enough for pirated streams to be easily found.
Plutez is competing and have to follow on the spreadsheet.

opinions on jimmy kolb? he's entertaining but is he a good lifter? he does many super-assisted lifts (wood tablet to limit range, straps and slingshot, like 5 people loading the bar on rack etc) of 1400 lbs
he seems to arch his back and the bar bounces on his belly?

This video is TnG, so it will look kinda bounced from his fat and proper leg drive. He's like 5'6 and 350lbs iirc.
Are his band shirt lifts impressive? Kinda? He still has to hold the weight. Is it impressive beyond holding the weight? Not really for me. I have a 2ply f8 slingshot and it really makes the weight move like a joke. Getting it into position to bench is the hardest part.
Ryan kennelly talked on it before that it isn't really a technique to it either. Stack the weight, stretch the arms to the side without trying to follow the grove of old multi/single ply shirts, and then it rebounds up. Ive kinda experienced the same in my thing. Another point to this is to look at all the dudes hitting 1000lbs in them. Bill Gillespie is probably the best example of how much they give. He has a raw bench he posted of 551 with elbow sleeves and no lockout (might not be able to physically, might not have the tri strength) a bit before his 1129lbs band shirt bench all at 62 years ild. In multi, hed probably have a hard time scratching 700.
Back to klob, Im pretty sure he has a 600lbs bench raw. I know he has the singleply record too, so its not just the band shirt. So hes less of a one trick pony. I do know he gets a disproportionately high amount out of his gear being as fat and short as he is. someone over 6' tall would need to be around 500lbs to mimic that reduced rom.

you "retire" to "focus on boxing" and "win" one "fight" then try powerlifting and get injured and then finally stop dicking around and go back to the sport you should have been dominating for the past 5 years anyway. But the joke is on him because the field has never been so strong before.
