I don't know any martial art with so annoying fans. They're always trying to convince everyone that boxing is the only effective martial art and anything else is for girls or gays.

That's BJJ and by extension, most MMA fans/participants. Both are wrong. Boxing aint the best, and neither is BJJ. When it comes to unarmed, Muay Thai/Karate(any style that uses elbows and knees) + Freestyle = Meta.

Marketing. boxing as a sport its very easy to spread and train (at an amateur level, professionals are a different breed themselves), so it presents itself as the king of combat sports and has the popularity to make you feel that it is ( im not saying that its not good, just that many of its claims are exaggerated so that it can sell more)

it's not the most complete martial art, of course, but it's a solid base and you can add any other martial art to it without substracting anything already there

Dude, if 99.9% of your finishing moves require intense focused effort on a single person. It's a sport. A martial art needs to be applicable in any appropriate use of force scenario. If it's an unarmed art, it should be good for any reasonable unarmed scenario. This is why boxing gets the W. Show me a clip of a fag roller dropping multiple dudes in a brawl.... It doesn't exist & using BJJ in that situation would get you stomped out. But I can hoo on jewtube right now and pull up endless clips of barely trained randos dropping multiple thugs in gutters. Any striking art will always be superior to any submission grappling style for this fact alone. Also, BJJ doesn't work.
