I just had a visionary idea of a snowball gun where you pack the snow into a chamber and it compresses and launches it. Unlimited ammo and safe as long as it doesn't make them into iceballs. could have a paintball-like sport with this, just needs some need to go and make it

Might be kinda hard to judge though, since snowballs don't leave much of a mark and you're fighting surrounded by snow anyway, so you wouldn't be able to distinguish someone who's been hit and someone who just fell on the ground
Maybe include wrestling-ish rules, where getting snow anywhere above your waist is an instant loss no matter how it got there, so your upper body can't touch the ground

At a summer camp I went to we played a game called gaga. It's like dodgeball played in a walled off pit that's too small for how many people get in at once. You use a non soft ball and it's full contact. You can get the ball anyway you want but you have to throw it at someone to get them out. There are no teams.

Disputed by two teams of 5 in a 30m of circumference circle path full of small walls, fake rocks, pools of water, jumpable little walls, etc., and you can actively push and grab your opponent. Whenever someone falls on the ground, they are out of the next round. Rounds happen until one team is out of players or a team wins 7 races. If the 20min clock has reached 0, both teams will pick a player to represent them in a sudden death 1v1 round.

I think that you'd run into a conflict between the balls not being hard enough to properly propel from the barrel without breaking and being too hard. Paintballs have a cohesive enough shell that they can be propelled without the above being a worry but because they're hollow/mostly fluid they shatter readily they don't cause as much damage. With snowballs, you'd have to compress it more to make it's "shell" harder since it's solid, which would make it more damaging. Would be cool if it worked though.
