๐งต Thoughts on Plasticity?

Apparently it works similar to CAD and removes all problems with topology other 3d modeling programs have.

If it was free and open source I would use it.
As it is is just another proprietary modeling tool of which there are a million around.

why do you even care? you can't code, you can't contribute, you're a useless bandwidth eater.

My big problem with Plasticity is that it gives basically no feedback when something goes wrong (which is bound to happen more often than in more mature CAD programs). For example, if you try to fillet an edge and it doesn't work, all you get is a red outline around the parameters box.

The trial only gives you version 1.0, whereas buying a license gives you access to every subsequent update.

What's your favorite CAD tnuse if you want to combine with Blender?

Because if I wanted to pirate something I would pirate Sketch-up, not this piece of amateur shit.

Fusion 360 is the way to go for freelancers and things like that, if you want to work solidworks is among the most demanded, other than that you could try Freecad and the new blender cad addon.

I know the addon is limited, cad integration was one of the goals from Dobarro's Asset Creation Pipeline Design 2 years ago.

I didn't know about the Dobarro thing because I stopped following Blender's development past 2.79 The really cool feature (which has been merged) is the Voxel remesher >>953861 because aside from remeshing, it also does volumetric boolean operations.

$300 for what is essentially a beta software. No documentation except
>discord server
>youtube spammers
Also, said youtubers smell funny, like they're trying to shill this piece of shit, just like the blender bros.
It's a hard pass for me.

I used it when it was free in beta. It's CAD for artists, awesome for complicated hard surface Boolean stuff.
It's a $100 for a perpetual indie licence. I might buy it someday if I'm bored. It has a lot of overlap with sketchup and fusion 360 except it's simplified. I'd say plasticity is easier and faster to use, and if I owned it I would prefer to use it to make hard surface stuff art assets, over other more dedicated CAD programs. Which would be more precise but also a bit clunkier to use.

I'd say it's the opposite, fusion360 is free and you do it right.
>Which would be more precise but also a bit clunkier to use.
Because of what? Constraints are not hard bro, just use them.
