I recently saw a talk from some research group. They were analyzing self assembling chemical structures which could be assembled and disassembled via addition of certain chemical fuels. The final result was a chemical solution that starts out as a liquid, then transitions to a gel, then liquid again, gel again and ends as a liquid.
WTF is that good for though?
