The only real big fun gathering of skaters like that I've been to was the "London Calling" exhibition a few weeks ago where all the oldheads were there to talk about the 70s. That and a Worble World premiere/Cobra Man gig. Skaters just hanging out together it really wholesome.

On another subject how the fuck do you get out of / roll away from a nosegrind? I'm starting to lock them in consistently but the little nollieish motion you do to get out of a nose manual off a ledge just stops my wheels or makes me slip off when grinding. Do I just learn to cope with the slip-off? Alternately, have any of you learned how to have pop from a manual? I'm suspecting it involves being able to hold a manual in a weird tense stance with both feet moved way back

Tensor maglites. I’m old but I can skate all day with these. Once I got used to them I don’t want to look back. Plus shinners don’t ruin my whole day
Wheels:
Formula 4 probably like 50mm by now idk it works it’s my 3rd set
Misc:
I got those no shield bearings because I’m already a meme so fuck it. They’re pretty nice plus I pop my shields off anyways because I like the look. These sound nicer than bearings designed with shields though.
Grip:
Probably jessup or whatever was cheap at the shop I just don’t like mobb it’s too sticky for me I run through shoes really fast

Shoes:
Nike ishod because they’re comfy and I have no shame. Getting really good life out of these I usually burn through the rubber in my front foot pretty quick.
Legwear:
Just old shorts because it’s hot and I already look ridiculous
Top:
Graphics t shirt so I can fit in with children
Misc:
Headphones so nobody talks to me
Baseball hat for hair in eyes
Gaudy watch for cheesy flexing

I sometimes feel like they're intentionally trying to start shit because they look like an innocent family mode and you're an adult male alone in an area generally associated with children. Or they'll like stand in the middle of everything to block people away from their small kids on whatever obstacle but be positioned so that everything else gets blocked. You can't really ask them to move without looking like an asshole it's the worst I'm sure you know what I mean

Larger board = harder to get in the air but easier to land on

I used to skate a 7.5 and couldn't reliably land ollies and too much of my foot (usually the heel) would be handing off and I'd either get wheelbite or drag and come off. I skate an 8.5 now and can ollie just fine on it. My 10 board is the one that's actually a pain to ollie due to excess weight, but I can even get that monster up curbs.

If you're light and/or have small feet, 7.5 should work. No reason you can't do it on an 8.5. Think about it as weight training.

I want a couple of specific boards, but my local shop only ordered 1 of them, they already sold it. I've tried getting the owner to special order me stuff, but he's kind of retarded and the last time he forgot to actually place my order.
Also his prices are really a lot more expensive than other shops.

I feel like I am being emotionally manipulated because sometimes I skate with him and he'll say things like "haha bro when are you coming back in haha" "get your paycheck recently? I got new decks in man haha"

I just use a GoPro. Cheap, small, great specs for the price, great for high speed footage (9 onwards can do 240FPS), sturdy, lots of mounting options, etc. It's great for follow along footage or leaving set up on a miniramp, but obviously the fish eye means any sort of shot from a distance (like trying to get a sweet stair gap shot) will look super tiny and shit, and sometimes it just seems to have ugly colour compression that I can't quite get my head around, so it has its drawbacks. But for something to throw into your bag along with all of your other shit in case you want to get some quick clips, it's great.

I've been skating for past few weeks after having like a 5 month break. Before that I learned just the basics like pushing, turning, stopping. Anyways today I had a pretty weird session, I've been practicing my ollies and for some reason I've been quite afraid and not really doing well with anything, which is strange because day before that I was doing pretty ok, I was nicely loosened up and I've been really going hard at those ollies. And it didn't help that before I ended my session I had quite a hard fall on my ass and I cracked the tail of my board. My question is, what was that fear? Why was I afraid of something I've been practicing for some time now? Was it just one of those days?

Part-time mongoloid here. Used to exclusively push mongo, learned push regular when people online said it was "better", will swap from one push to the other depending on the scenario.
The ONLY reason mongo is "bad" is because it tends to add an extra half second it takes to shuffle your back foot into position for a pop. That's it. But then, of course, it's an advantage for nollie tricks. I've all sorts of bullshit about it making it harder to control the board mid push (not true), that you can't throw down (not true) or that it develops bad habits (don't know how you'd prove that), but the extra foot shuffle you need to do is the only thing I can think of.

Honestly, everyone should just learn to push every way the same way you should learn tricks switch. It's super fucking handy to be able to swap feet without thinking. Gets me out of hairy situations a lot and is useful when one of your legs is more tired than the other.

No it's not. Why the fuck do people keep saying this? I can push just as fast with either foot and I can fully turn the board with my back foot alone if I need to adjust mid-push.

Idk, it's never held me back beyond the extra adjustments you need to do to set up for a quick pop. Maybe I just keep my weight centred more or something. I can see newbies learning to push mongo and hanging their weight back too much out of fear of their boards, but I'll have my heel on the bolts and the ball of my foot near the centre of the deck, upper body hunched over like a regular push.
Mostly it's another tool in my belt. Saves me from the odd crash or lets me turn tight frontside.

There is something about al brunelles skating which is unappealing. I don't think it's his style because despite being really tall he looks pretty good. I think it's that when he skates a bowl he literally does a fancy trick almost every time he hits the coping. The dudes that rip bowls the hardest know that you gotta throw in some long drawn out back 50s or front 5-0s here and there, sometimes simpler is better.

So now I have two sprained ankles. I can't do flip tricks because my first sprained ankle isn't letting me flick... But my brother invited me to the park and I decided I'd work on some QP tricks and just do some Ollie's and 180s. At the very end before we leave I say "one more trick" I fs 180 off a little kicker and my left foot lands just off the board THE EXACT SAME WAY my right foot did. Right on the side of my foot.
I've rolled that ankle a few times so the pain is not as bad and there's light bruising on my foot.
All summer I've been fucking up- from my knee to my ankles. I think I might need to start doing a hobby people my age do.

I'm learning it this way so that I can eventually evolve it into a pop shuve late front shuv, using my back door for the pop shuv, front foot for the late front shuv.

I slashed the hip at the local finally.
It was actually much more awkward/difficult than it looks lol

can you learn tricks with just the board or is it more advisable to use trucks and wheels

I learned kickflips on a bedroom slipper before learning them on a skateboard. But no you can't.

>limosine are cool (who knows why)
Because East Coast skating is very appealing to the younger crowd right now, Logan Lara has a history of making cool videos and Cyrus and Max are the zoomer kids favorite skater favorite skaters

I just got a board and skated for the first time in maybe 17, 18 years.
I feel less afraid, I can kinda ride fakie, I was too terrified to even try in my teens. I even landed a few static ollies. I tried and tried and tried as a teen and could never get it (I think I realized a couple years ago I wasn't even trying to jump back then and have had it in the back of my mind to try that). The board is a big box pos but I threw in some abec 7 "steadfast" bearings I picked up like 6 years ago for something else, and I have some 80A Amazon wheels on the way since I grew up with and loved softer wheels. The board was a "Duke" brand, it was heavy AF but I loved how it rolled. Idk what the hardness rating was though it wasn't popular to label that back then.

right on man. If you're gonna start practicing ollies lighter trucks might help with stamina, like you won't go any higher but you'll be able to last longer. And when you smack yourself in the shins it's not as bad. It's not a huge difference but it makes more of a difference than any other change imo
have fun

lol ironically I was in the ironworkers union apprenticeship. even if I had time to skate I didnt want to be cause I didnt want to get hurt, that means you cant work and cant do shit in school. it also makes you look bad. there was one other dude in my class who skated and he got a 3 month wrist injury trying to kickflip a funbox and he got reamed out by the school, the hall, and made himself seem like an idiot to all the other apprentices.

>HELP! I have a Nvidia card and my game crashes on startup!
Try the dgVoodoo option in the new win10fix settings.
Alternative: Update your AAU and see if it happens again. If so, disable win10fix, enable wined3d and software vertex processing.
