I've been battling with this on and off for the past few days and I am not getting any closer to my goal.
I have 2 rigs and I want to move rig 1's animation over to rig 2. Problem is, rig 2 not only has more bones than rig 1, but the bone hierarchy is different too. I know how to change the hierarchy and reassign parents/etc, but that breaks rig 1's animation. Is there any way to salvage this?

How should I build my skeleton to support skirts and dresses in a game engine?

I have something rigged up like pic related where I have two-bone chains going out in 8 directions around the hip bone. I have a collision sphere that collides with the thigh bone and presses the skirt bone out of the way, preventing collision with the legs. My character has modular clothing so I activate and deactivate the bones as needed.

It works for the most part, but the length of the bones or how big the collision spheres should be just never seems right. I'm also struggling with my weight painting where the transition between waist and skirt is either too sharp or too soft. There's either not enough weight to accommodate crouching or there's too much weight and it abruptly goes from no physics at once vertex to jutting out at the next.

I really want to avoid having custom skeletons for different kinds of outfits. It would be much better for me to have one single humanoid skeleton that supports a variety of chest/leg garments.

Where are the good tuts about proper BOX modelling?
I have seen a couple of good guides on edge extrusion modelling (grant warwick's and bulgarov's tutorials are great), but I haven't found anything on box modelling, except for tor fricks tutorials, which are kind of limited because he has a very narrow aproach that's really fast and practical but very limiting stylistically. Any other tutorials, videos or written guides on this approach to modelling?

Not sure if you have seen where the hell is matt.
This was a viral video from 2008.

I honestly have no clue how it was done.
It's pretty clear some CGI was involved, but not sure where.

It's not possible for a civilian to do funny dances on north korea military zone and NASA training airplanes, so It's pretty clear some CGI stuff was used.

However, the level of quality is beyond any photorealism I saw from big major movies from 2008, not even sure if the technology was even capable of such realism.

Even if we use some green background removal shit, and even if we use paid actors, there's a huge number of nation actors here, in age and costumes, so not fucking sure how a youtuber got random japanese maids and spaniards and african kids from multiple black nations and argentinians and some tribal guys.

Not sure how he did that.
Also, some of the dances seem to repeat and I'm not sure if some of the dancing seem to be able to dance in something that not sure, but there's clearly some hand crafted cleaned mockup there.

Also, he seem to reach to background elements like rain and hours of the day.

So, how the fuck was he able to do this using 2008 CGI I assume maya.

I work in a 3D company and Im not really happy with that (mostly doing props, backgrounds and environmental stuff). Im honestly planning to quit and search for something better, so meanwhile I started a side twitter account without linking my real portfolio (behance, artstation).

Im not a pro but absolutely not a beginner, and I know most of the most succesful accounts are the porn ones but :

>Biggest accounts are just porn animations using premade models.
>They dont even know how to model a single thing by themselves, not even the basic workflow, baking, texturing or rigging. Just a camera, some lights, rotate limbs and its done.
>Those "modelers" who provide them new models are just people who headhacks fortnite/lol/resident evil heads onto daz models. Thats all.
>Then theres this other 'faction', the voice actors. Most of them girls (or dudes with filters idc), they have more than 50K followers, so you basic need to collaborate with them if you want to grow and make them RT what you did.
>Finally their public, the normies dont care or dont even know how the model was done. They just think every "modeler" does it from scratch when in reality all of them are stealing copyrighted characters, clothing, hairs, textures or rigs. This is worse than 2D artists panicking about AI stealing their art, this is straight steal.
>All of them grow fast. I mean, 5k-10k likes per tweet easy. ~20k-100k followers in less than a year.

So. At the end, the real 3D artists is left modeling a character, maybe a base mesh, baking the details, rigging it, posing it, texturing everything, struggling with all the small details, figuring out how to fix that pose, that finger doesnt look right or the physics dont work the way they should. And for what? Maybe 100 likes, 500 if you are veeery lucky. Even when doing nude characters and boobs its completely impossible to go against these people.

It's been a while since I asked... Are there any new free tools that will let you do generative design\topology optimization simulations on models? I got to play with this generative design function for like 2 weeks with Fusion360 before I ran out of their gay and expensive cloud credits and then they ripped the function out entirely of the free version of F360. How can I run simulations like this on the cheap?
