🧵 newest Starship opinion

Anonymous No. 16077200

what are your thoughts on the latest Thunderf00t take on Starship?

"That was always the thing, making things rapidly reusable, that was never a large launch market, this… this… this is being true forever, the satellites cost more to make than they cost to launch, so even if you going to make launching they cheaper, it doesn’t really change much. The only reason SpaceX has Starlink is because there were no satellites to launch."

is he right /sci/? Is Starship useless?

🧵 Why do people care aboit quantum gravity?

Anonymous No. 16077118

Folks, maybe gravity is just classical all the way down and doesnt need to be quantized. Ever thought about that?
No current experiment has shown gravity to be anything but classical.

🧵 How many people are actually intrinsically motivated by math?

Anonymous No. 16076633

No matter how much I like math, that will never seem to outweigh the gruelingness of actually doing it enough to get me to do it on its own. And most of the time I don't feel that strongly about it anyway. I can see like 1% of mathematicians actually liking math enough, but surely when most people talk about how math is so heckin beautiful they're just saying words and don't actually do math for that reason right?

Am I just retarded or is MIT calculus just particularly difficult? Is there an easier course for people like me who don't have 130+ iq's?

🧵 tech regression/lost knowledge

Anonymous No. 16074604

The assumption about humanity that many have is that we will continue to progress, perhaps not linearly, in our technology and scientific understanding.

Is it possible that humanity could regress? Like if there was a bronze age style collapse or if humanity chimped out with nukes? Could we reach a point where too few people know about shit like advanced chemistry, Einsteinian physics, advanced metallurgy, computer science and hardware and thus lead to a general age of barbarism and primitiveness?

🧵 Who can solve this simple arithemetic problem?

Anonymous No. 16074549

Are we getting dumber? Surprisingly this simple arithmetic PEMDAS / BODMAS problem is taking more than 15 minutes to solve.

A. The unsolved equation: 6 / 9 - 1 x 9 + 5 + 9 / 6
B. Your mission: Reach the target number 991 using the provided options.
C. Options at your disposal: ( ), ^2, ^2, and ^4
D. Clue: The last number 6 (marked in gray) in the equation is likely to not have any powers applied to it, or not be within brackets.

You can't rearrange the equation, add operators etc. Options available are 1 time use. More rules are on brackops.club

🧵 Irreducible polynomials

Anonymous No. 16074374

I was studying simple irreducible polynomials and have come with some way to measure surjectivity of irreducible polynomials that don't get divided by a constant term between integers solutions andcomposite numbers under the assumption that such polynomial assumes no primes.

My concern is whether this is an open question or not? About an irreducible polynomial over the integers attaining at least one prime, forget infinitely many.

Launch site: Starbase, Texas
Launch pad: Orbital Launch Mount A (OLM-A)
Launch vehicle: Starship “Ship 28” and Super Heavy “Booster 10”
Super Heavy Planned Fate: Destroyed; powered vertical water landing in the Gulf of Mexico (T+7 minutes)
Starship Planned Fate: Destroyed; horizontal unpowered water landing in the Indian Ocean (T+95 minutes)

>The third flight test aims to build on what we’ve learned from previous flights while attempting a number of ambitious objectives, including the successful ascent burn of both stages, opening and closing Starship’s payload door, a propellant transfer demonstration during the upper stage’s coast phase, the first ever re-light of a Raptor engine while in space, and a controlled reentry of Starship. It will also fly a new trajectory, with Starship targeted to splashdown in the Indian Ocean. This new flight path enables us to attempt new techniques like in-space engine burns while maximizing public safety.

Look at this picture.
There is inherent asymmetry in this situation.
Balls can move in the opposite directions where their position is not bounded by anything.
Or they can move towards themselves where they will eventually be in the very same position.
Gravity is most likely not fundamental, it emerges from other forces acting in asymmetric way.
