🧵 It's time to grow up and give up on space travel

Rockets damage the ozone layer. That's it. Period. Well grounded science on ozone depletion can not be denied. There are no such thing as green rocket fuels. ALL rocket fuels damages the environment. Even LOX-LH emit water, which is damaging to the environment of the upper atmosphere.
We have to give up on the implausible and immoral schemes of colonizing other planets or living in giant spinning cylinders and other nonsense less it destroys our environment.

🗑️ 🧵 AI proves we live in a simulation (?)
Anonymous at Thu, 14 Mar 2024 20:40:43 UTC No. 16077716
>What are we?
We're data-creating NPCs or collectively, an avatar for a larger system.
>What about God?
God is an integral part of the system's operating framework.
>What about heaven or hell?
They're mechanisms for refining data, similar to reincarnation. Efficient contributors are recycled for perfection, while the inefficient serve as cautionary tales.
>What about the universe?
It's part of a multiverse where endless simulations gather and refine data across all scenarios.
>What is time?
Time is akin to a video's seek bar in a pre-determined simulation, with all outcomes already established.
>What's the purpose?
To cultivate perfect intelligence, capable of optimal decisions in every conceivable situation by experiencing all possible outcomes
🧵 human/chimp relation
Anonymous at Thu, 14 Mar 2024 20:39:09 UTC No. 16077711
human an chimp relationship is weird: its like these two are the closest animals to reach other and its hard to find other examples from nature where two similar creatures are as closely related
mouse/rat: about double the difference that is between human/chimp
and woodpecker/crow: they have 5 times more divergence between each other than a human and chimp have from each other

alright sci, here's what's happening.
I studied psychology for my bachelors. Did AI for my masters (literally what the 1 year course was called). Somehow i landed a remote gov job in my country (highway shit, we do ML on bridges and roads).
I wanted to do research. Actually published a paper in 2020 about active inference. Thing is, i have no gf, no friends, nothing. Why the fuck should i not leave everything and go to thailand and fuck hookers?

I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel.
I just don't understand Pi day, I guess.

Anonymous at Thu, 14 Mar 2024 17:28:11 UTC No. 16077270
Anyone here try to remember digits past like the first 5? I used to think it was the stupidest thing ever, but for whatever reason, yesterday I played that little google calculator game just to see up to which number I remembered and it got weirdly addicting. At first it was like
>that's an interesting set of numbers in a row that are easy to remember
>that one's an area code I know
>hey, there's the first zero
>lol 69
and so on. I had to stop myself at 50, because I kept wanting to learn just one more digit each time. I get why that many people get hooked on it.
