can someone redpill me on level design workflow? let's say you try to make a comfy medieval house interior or so. and you need tons of different things, like wooden frames, a chimney, a chair, a table, kitchen tools and so on.
do you actually make modular assets and then design the house in the game engine, or do you design the complete interior in your 3d app and then export it to the game engine and detach all the assets that you want to be movable?
so is the general workflow to just jank out 1000 individual assets in your 3d app and then design the actual scene in the game engine, or do you actually design the scene in the 3d software and then export it all together to the game engine?

Decided to take an old mesh from a months ago and retexture it and create newer materials and render shot with my better skills from today.
Material Maker and Krita for making the masks.
Armor paint to Paint.
Blender to set up and Cycles for rendering.
Still some areas to improve like using dirt lenses, but I still lack the background and other models for a proper finished render, so take it as a WIP first test render.

When creating game characters do people create each one from scratch or do they have some base model which they modify and put clothes on to? Which one yields better results? What option should I choose as a solo dev? I want to create characters with similar art style as pic related.

Keep in mind it was made in 2003 with GameCube tech. Her completely character model in-game has 10,000 polys.
What would you say is well done, and where did they screw up? Use balanced critisism (not just all good or all bad).

Blender 3.0's baking is broken. COMPLETELY broken. Its not just you if it happened to you as well. I tested texture baking on 2.81 and it works quickly and great. I also noticed that the textures ""appear"" and look better on meshes than 3.0 does. I feel like blender is downgrading...
