𧡠After 217 Covid Vaccines, Man Had No Side Effects and Robust Immunity
Anonymous at Sat, 16 Mar 2024 21:23:04 UTC No. 16081952
I don't know why you fuckers are so scared and paranoid about the vaccine.
>Two years ago, German doctors stumbled across news reports of a man being investigated for receiving scores of coronavirus vaccines with no medical explanation.
>Then followed a flurry of speculation about what he had been up to. As it turned out, prosecutors were looking into whether he had been receiving so many extra doses as part of a scheme to collect stamped immunization cards that he could later sell to people who wanted to skirt vaccine mandates.
>The man had seemingly never been infected with the coronavirus. He reported no vaccine side effects. And, most interestingly to the researchers, his repertoire of antibodies and immune cells was considerably larger than that of a typical vaccinated person, even if the precision of those immune responses remained effectively unchanged.
>The researchers found that even the 217th shot boosted the manβs immune response. And while they were carefully looking for signs of a progressive weakening in his immune reactions over time β an unwelcome type of immune tolerance that sometimes develops during long-term viral infections β they reported seeing no such drop-off in responses.

how accurate is the math on this?
𧡠Math book recommendation request
Anonymous at Sat, 16 Mar 2024 20:07:36 UTC No. 16081822
Hello /sci/, math undergraduate student here. I was looking into multivariable integration since I have it next semester and all resources I found are very strange. Baby Rudin's ch 10 11 do it very weirdly and very short/terse manner, and I did not like Spivak Calculus on Manifolds either.
I tried reading Munkres Analysis on Manifolds and even he has that portion not as well as he dealt with the multivariable differentiation
Any good suggestions for this topic? Anything is appreciated. I enjoyed Munkres Analysis on Manifolds treatment of differentiation a lot.
Any suggestions?
I need an easy book that lays down all the theory needed in detailed comprehensive manner which i can easily access, maybe some manifold intuition too
Later of course I will solve Rudin and Spivak problems but I need a book to learn

"Uncertainty" principle is just wave mechanics.
It's only "uncertain" because you expect particles when the reality is wave-like.

I thought that all STEM educated people easily got jobs in the old days. But reading this made me wonder. It sounds like something you hear about in todays education and job market.
How many of einsteins and Oppenheimers classmates ended up jobless after their physics degrees. No employment forcing them to work in food delivery just like modern scientists?
>After informing his father of his intent to switch, his father was so concerned that he traveled to visit him and speak with his professors at the school. While a degree in chemical engineering was a sure path to a well-paying job at chemical companies, there was not such a clear-cut route for a career with a degree in physics. He was not privy to the discussions his father had with his professors, but the result was that he got his father's permission to become a physicist.

𧡠Hey fags! I'm gonna run a coffee experiment soon.
Anonymous at Sat, 16 Mar 2024 18:14:56 UTC No. 16081603
I recently found out that caffeine detection strips are quite cheap, so this means I'll soon have the opportunity to run some experiments. I'm gonna outline the parameters of my scientific experiment and I'd like some criticisms of my methodology if it is flawed.
Controlled variables: The temperature and amount of hot water, the amount and coarseness of ground coffee beans, the amount of brew time, the container in which the coffee is being brewed, the filtration of the coffee bean-water solution into a cup once brewing is complete
Independent variable: the agitation or lack thereof of the coffee bean-water solution during brewing
Dependent variable: The amount of caffeine present in the coffee after brewing
I will grind some coffee beans, pour some hot water into a thermos, and either leave the thermos undisturbed for five minutes or provide consistent agitation to the thermos during the brewing process. After the five minutes is up, I will filter the coffee grounds out and measure the caffeine levels of both solutions. BTW, if you know any reliable and cheap caffeine detection strips, please recommend them. I shall post results soon.

What's going with the Intuitive Machines IM-1 lunar lander? I'm hearing from some people that it was a complete success and a small private company has done what NASA couldn't do. I'm also hearing it didn't land properly, it tipped over on its side, one of the legs broke, part of the antenna is buried in the lunar regolith all because someone left a safety pin in so the laser system to measure distance couldn't run.

ποΈ π§΅ Science of community management and jannies
Anonymous at Sat, 16 Mar 2024 15:40:13 UTC No. 16081340
Okay jannies we get it. Clearly, for some unstated reason, board relevant posts about the state of the board are verboten (post refs for archive seekers needing context >>16080429 >>16071764). I'll start one of my own that's entirely within the realm of discourse you have all established as acceptable, as demonstrated by the anti-science /xpol/ posting you chronically allow despite blatant rule violations with mere superficial associations to science with taglines such as "scientific reasons for [bait]". With a bit of a twist: There actually are papers on community management and evaluating means/methods for dealing with and defining trolls. In other words, unlike the chronic rule-breaking posts you allow, this post is even on topic.
Discuss the scientific reasons jannies refuse to enforce even basic rules but jump at the chance to delete board relevant threads whenever it's critical of general site failures to do the bare fucking minimum.
And of course research on digital community management, dealing with trolling and what constitutes trolling, developing communities of learning and science online. Look I even attached a relevant PDF! https://www.researchgate.net/public
Naturally as part of this discussion we can contrast the current abysmal state of /sci/ with best practices. Or, frankly, "literally anything but the epitome of the worst example" (i.e. the jannies here). Probably the most conceptually and evidently flawed, facially, is allowing anti-science shilling on a science board.
Discuss.
