I'm developing the idea for a science fiction project, mostly hard science fiction.
Keep the following in mind:
>It's a not-so-distant future where nothing like "stasis" tech exists.
>Humans have not created the technology to travel through space at extremely high (and convenient) speeds.
The point is that the story takes place inside a population transport ship, whose main module functions as a large terrarium. The current humans will not get to see the destination planet, perhaps their great-grandchildren.
What shape do you think that ship should be? I first thought that humans would inhabit something like the Halo rings with a central body. But that would take away some of the mystery, and would be too cliché. What if the humans inhabit the outer surface of the ring, and the rest of the ship would only be visible from the edges (it would take the viewer back to the old maps, where at a certain point the world ends)? What if we take it a bit further, and they inhabit a hollow sphere whose north and south ends are cut off by a cylinder to accommodate the body of the ship?
I would love to hear your suggestions.

>In physics, spacetime is any mathematical model that fuses the three dimensions of space and the one dimension of time into a single four-dimensional continuum. Spacetime diagrams are useful in visualizing and understanding relativistic effects such as how different observers perceive where and when events occur.
But could spacetime be the fundamental underlying structure of the universe? So think of space-time as a superfluid ocean, and all the motion in the universe could be due to the currents of this ocean. Like a leaf floating in the air, I am saying that atoms, planets, stars, galaxies are not moving in spacetime, but rather they are moving because of the flow of spacetime.

Hello /sci/. I wasn't sure what board would be best to post this on since I tried /adv/ but I figured I might have a better shot here. Last Saturday, when the pressure changed and it got cold in my area my right ear began to feel almost clogged. I thought this was a congestion issue until I started hearing a faint ringing in my ear. I assumed it would go away over the next couple of days but I woke up this morning and it feels more clogged than usual and the ringing is still present. I've tried wax-loosening ear drops but those haven't seemed to help. Sometimes when I hold my nose and blow to open my ears it makes the ringing stop but only temporarily. What should I do? Has anyone else experienced this?

The other day i was hearing from a family member stories of my uncle who made his way from being a simple sommelier to the director in charge of a big casino and all the strange and talented people that he encountered in his life and some interesting tactics that they learn in gambling, the ones that makes it illegal for them to enter in other casinos as players.
That said one thing he said that i didnt understand as he was rambling at that point is the reason why betting black/red in roulettes is bad because it is not exactly 50/50 and you can't do like the "if i loose i will bet the same and double the amount to make up for my loss" strategy. Is it because european roulettes have 37 numbers, one of them a green 0? so its not exactly 50/50? Also i searched that americans have 38 numbers and 2 zeroes so even less possibilities betting red/black.
I ask because i am assuming this but my level of maths is prealgebra -1 and i didnt hear him properly the other day.

What will the big scientific developments of the 21st century be?
Will be get nuclear fusion to release more energy than it takes to get it to work?
If so? Will be see harvesting of tritium on the moon?
How good will space travel get?
Will we start to colonise other planets in our solar system?
Will we descend into a new dark age with the chaos inducement of climate change and nuclear threat?

So this drug combines the effects of MDMA, cocaine and amphetamines. What will this do to your brain, scientifically speaking?
>Mephedrone, also known as 4-methylmethcathinone, 4-MMC, and 4-methylephedrone, is a synthetic stimulant drug of the amphetamine and cathinone classes. Slang names include drone,[5] M-CAT,[6] White Magic,[7] meow meow and bubble.[8] It is chemically similar to the cathinone compounds found in the Khat plant of eastern Africa.[5][9] It comes in the form of tablets or crystals,[10] which users can swallow, snort or inject, producing effects similar to those of MDMA, amphetamines and cocaine.
