where do people even start to make professional looking clothing for 3d characters? Do you have to attend a clothing designer school before you know what you are actually doing?

Hello 3D bros.
I'm planning to make a little game but the premise requires there to be a shit ton of different kinds of doors like ANYTHING on the hinges
Basically starting from regular ass doors to vault doors
It doesn't have to be hyper realistic.
Where do I look? I'm broke so buying shit is out of question
Hoping to get lucky and get a kind anon to send me Doors.zip

🧵 Finishing shit
Anonymous at Mon, 5 Dec 2022 16:03:30 UTC No. 928602
I'd like to discuss a problem that I have had since I started this cursed hobby of doing 3D and it's about finish stuff.
I just can't fucking do it, after months and months and months (years actually) of doing a shit ton of tutorials on practically everything 3D but VFXs, I realised that I never finished a project.
Now I can confidently say that I can sculpt, model, retopo, rig, animate a character but I have literaly no example to show.
I'll sculpt a face and call it done when I feel it looks good enough and since I know what the detailing will be about, I'll simply not do it. I'll model something and once I feel I went far enough, same thing I won't finish it nor doing it's UV and textures.
Rigging and animating, same exact fucking thing, I'll get a random character from sketchfab or whatever, rig it. Then I'll pick an animation reference, put all the key poses maybe a few blending ones and I'll pass on the detailing phase. Same shit for Marvelous Designer and Houdini on a lesser extant. Made one piece of clothing once I got the hang of it, I never really touched MD. Houdini -> Made a few procedural assets then never touched it again. Worst thing is I have a project in mind wich lead me to learn all of these things but it's stuck bc of this problem.
I suddenly tought that maybe some of you used or are doing the same thing and wanted to discuss it.

🧵 UV Freezing/Pinning
Anonymous at Mon, 5 Dec 2022 03:31:30 UTC No. 928523
Is anyone on here aware of a solution or feature in a 3D package that allows freezing/pinning the UVs in respects to a single axis only? My usual way to do a quick a dirty unwrap, that utilizes all the texture space, simply involves straightening and pinning the edges of the shell/island to a rectangle and then unwrapping again. This of course means that the top and bottom will still be pinned horizontally, and the left and right sides will be pinned vertically, where it would be preferable that the unwrapper still allowed them to slide across these axis respectively.
🧵 I can make better 3D game animations than most AAA pajeets

>See modern games
>Nice PS5 models
>Model deform in the same way a psx model would do
I can't stop but noticing the limbs of models deform very much like ps2 limbs.
Which is kind of creepy to see such detailed models and the limbs being so stiff.
Also the physics and clipping issues are still the same as psx games.
It actually kills my inmiersion to see such details straight from 1995 and see no improvement over mario 64 and meshes really super detailed.
It really feels like watching one of those tv ads from india.
Also mocap animations are the most souless shit ever.
Honestly I can make better 3D game animations using low poly and pixel art and get something that looks better than modern GAYmer pajeet developers from LA.

🧵 Starting out in blender
Anonymous at Sun, 4 Dec 2022 02:55:54 UTC No. 928343
Due to an injury I found myself with more free time so I thought that I would try some "3d modeling." It's been on my backburner for quite a while so I decided to boot up Blender and getting to work. ended up making this in 3 hours, 2 of which were spent watching tutorials to do something specific I wanted to do and figuring out this abomination of an UI.
the question is, How do I just make some somewhat similar models to my sprites so that the shadows don't look like square due to "import image as a flat plane" method. tried to turn the sprites into VSG files but that just messed up the sprites. also I want to do more simplistic 3d geometry so that I can slap in my textures since I know slapping flat plains everywhere ain't gonna cut it for what I want to do, so I gotta learn how to put textures into objects as well, it's gonna be hard to make those models look pixelated so any tips for both the sprites import and 3d models would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any beginner Blender tutorials that just point out all the important features you need to know to get started and give a short explanation on what each one of them does? The "walkthrough/explanation of making a specific object" thing most do doesn't really click with me.
Usually I learn software by just fiddling with it and seeing what buttons do, but Blender is way too unintuitive and arcane for me to even know where to start, so I basically just want a video where someone fiddles with it for me and says what all the buttons do and points out which ones I'd need to press to get anything other than a cube on my screen
