Is it just me, or has the "dinosaurs are a hoax" thing gained more traction in recent years? Why dinosaurs of all subjects? You would think that they would latch on to something less absurd like chemtrails.

Can someone recommend me a beginner book on studying math. I'm reading "Algebra" from Israel Gelfand and I feel like a retard, the problems given feel very hard, I might be retarded but if you guys have any tips/book recommendations they would be much appreciated.

I suffer from math anxiety and have always had a lot of difficulty learning this subject. My difficulties with mathematics became a major problem with learning other core sciences, such as physics.
I have curiosity and love for various subjects, such as chemistry, biology, literature, philosophy, medicine and pharmaceuticals. Something that makes me especially happy is writing poetry and novels. As I have always managed to learn in these areas without any problems, I assume that my brain must be normal.
Recently I have been suffering more and more from a feeling of failure for not knowing even the most elementary mathematics.
Furthermore, it seems to me that a person versed in logic and mathematics is capable of cutting corners - carving away that linguistic fog of concepts and ideas that don't make sense - and offering more valuable contributions to areas such as philosophy, economics and sociology. I think of the example of John Von Neumann when he decided to work in some of these areas (such as economics).

Is there a name for the transcendental numbers that cannot be combined with other transcental numbers to create an algebraic number? Do such numbers exist?
For example, neither pi nor e count in this (hypothetical?) category because of euler's identity.

One of my favorite things to do in my degree as a corrosion scientist was making Tafel plots
The amount of information you can gain from just the anodic and Cathodic slopes in incredible. You could learn entire compositions from just these numbers. You can get the corrosion rate, the conductivity in a medium, the susceptibility to different types of corrosion (general or localized) and best of all, you can see it happen in real time.
I’ve since become a corrosion engineer and have helped design many types of coatings through the use of Tafel experiments!

There are many different types of tests that can be done for corrosion, some are dedicated to stainless steels others are dedicated to Inconels.
But in all they are all worth learning for any would be Civil engineer, chemical and corrosion engineer.

All modern science is either a ponzi scheme or an outright lie to access jobs or academic positions.

If I am hypothetically moving through outer space at 99.99999999% the speed of light, and then I shine a laser pointer forwards, does the beam of light travel slowly from my perspective?
Does this mean it is possible for a mechanism to calculate its "absolute" speed relative to the universe itself simply by checking the speed of light and seeing if it's slower than it should be?
