🧵 How would you 3D print an 1/24 scale car body with your fdm printer?

I keep seeing people simply printing models the way they find them online, printing for a whole day and then spending hours scraping literal pounds of support material out. They spend literally more filament and hours on support than on the actual object.

What would be your approach to print a body like that with the least amount of support? I have no problem with assembling parts and even modeling connection joints on each item to make parts snap together would be fun.

Are any of you fellers using Materialize?

I'm trying to make a normal map from a grayscale bump map I made in Photoshop and saved out as a 16-bit uncompressed TIFF. But Materialize adds a bunch of banding in areas that are supposed to be 100% flat (50% gray in my bump map) and weird little dents along the edges.

Hi. I've been a d/ic/k for a while and I just started trying out 3D so far it's mostly intuitive but I've ran into a huge roadblock with the hair.

It seems every method out there relies on curves, paths or particles. Is there a good tutorial to do it with a mesh instead? I know paths can be converted into meshes but when I do it, the converted areas change colorand I cannot turn it back to the old one.

Or maybe I should try z brush instead? I basically would just want to do figurines and similar.

Is there any good tutorial for SFM? I have this urge to become a 3D animator and make awesome videos like Ceen0, MTB, Mirabeau studios and HyperX/Sodaz. Seems so much, would SFM be user friendly to get an idea? Or should I follow the sticky and go from there.
