🧵 The Moon
Anonymous at Tue, 25 Jun 2024 19:41:21 UTC No. 16253311
I have a couple of questions;
Why do we only see one side of the moon and not the other.
Why is the moon lit up from behind? Is that the sun going around the earth?
Why does it do it's monthly cycle? Why isn't it just always lit?
Shouldn't the darkside of the moon be the light side if it goes in-between the earth and the sun?
Can't they just explore the other side of the moon when the sun is on it?

What's the lowdown on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)? Is it real or is it just a meme? I was interested in the concept but there don't seem to be any practicioners of it anywhere near me, and my own wife told me that she's technically CBT-certified with her MSW even though there was nothing in her curriculum about CBT, other than briefly mentioning it existed. Is this a real and legitimate branch of medicine or is it something that should be removed from discussion in regard to the sciences?

Would a well-engineered dyson sphere not be black, invisible, instead for the ultimate efficacy?
🧵 Born too early
Anonymous at Tue, 25 Jun 2024 17:34:31 UTC No. 16253017
We are living in the age of speculation regarding space travel. We will never see extraterrestrial colonies established. Massive space stations built throughout the Solar System. Generational space travel beyond the stars. We were born too early to see any of that. If we are lucky, we might see Moon/asteroid mining stations or a round trip to Mars, but nothing spectacular. Every day at work I fantasize in my head about travelling to distant celestial bodies. For eight hours, every day, I play out every minute detail, using all the instruments, crew members passing away on long trips, doing experiments etc. and it just hurts me more and more. Today, I went on a trip to Proxima b with my ideal qt girlfriend to perform experiments there before relaying the results back to Earth and passing away there. We were in cryosleep for nearly 40 years and I had to give her the rescue breath after awaking. There are live cameras, so Earth can see what is going on 3-4 years later. Nothing like this will happen in my lifetime, and that upsets me greatly. More than the thought of my family members passing away. Does anyone else feel the same?

🧵 Are religious hallucinations universal in nature?
Anonymous at Tue, 25 Jun 2024 16:57:00 UTC No. 16252937
To those who were raised under non-Christian religions, do you get hallucinatory experiences that affirms your respective childhood religion?
>Be Agnostic raised Christian
>abstain from weed for 2 months
>Sis asks if I want a hit; cave in and feel really high
>For some reason, mind thinks “Haha wouldn’t it be funny if I had a bad panic attack?”
>Feel unbearable sense of dread and anxiety like I am being judged
>Hear 'I am jehova' in a sort of Michael bay bumblebee-like way, a mixture of different voices speaking words to make one continuous sentence
>Feel guilt for how my family has become godless
>Go to my parents room as anxiety gets worse
>Feels like consciousness is being raped and only feel the words 'god is real'
>Greenout peaks and every thought of“what if this is fake” us immediately met with a mentak slap that shouts “this is real” repeatedly over & over until I am unable to get up
>Exit high peak and suddenly feel peace
>Convinced that I am in the post-rapture, that my parents room was a disguised heaven and that my dad in the room is god
>Cry and hug him to say I am sorry for the way I lived my life. Dad is nervous
>Come to realize dad isn't god and feel like my family is about to die in a nuclear fire within minutes and the only thing that could save us is to physically touch everyone else in the house or they are all going to die and go to hell
>Dad holds me down when I try to force my way to my showering mom to get her to touch my hand
>Mind permeates 'you will never know if this was real or not'
>Mind is fuzzy and go to bed
I am shaken and unsure if the experience is genuine or purely psychological, but I want to approach this rationally
Any of you non christian-raised atheist anons experienced similar hallucinations that affirmed your religion? My immediate reaction to my experience was fear & dread, but I could also see it being just my brain working off my childhood fears of hell in the same way an abused woman might relive her rape

Does Turmeric, Resveratrol, Seaweed, or Anthocyanins (berries /fruit) have any morphology enhancing, or body structural organizing properties? Or is it a scam?
From what I can tell the small molecules are inhibitors, which block cell receptors, and cause cell cycle arrest. This could lead to autophagy, mitophagy, or cell death. But I don’t understand how those process actually translate to benefits. The evidence seems to be mostly in active wounds? Most of the compounds are anti-inflammatory.
They do not seem to be used by the cells.
Just wondering if there are any effects that actual cause regeneration or reorganization of tissue toward function. Or if all the studies on these are fakes.
