What is the best software for painting textures onto an asset, especially a body? Where can I learn about techniques on texture painting a body with clothing?

I have been interested in 3D modeling for a while, but I always stumble over this part when I try it out. I have tried it in Blender a few times and have had a lot of issues painting exactly what I wanted and painting in the wrong spots.

🧵 Something that bothers me.

Anonymous No. 836073

I know this is kind of silly.

Do the real professionals in the industry can make everything from scratch, or to be a professional meant you know how to use "cheating" techniques/tools (tracing, using Vroid, using proc gen, kitbashing, using generators) to mask your lack of skills and in reality It doesn't matter what/how you used a computer to generate the assets and the only thing that matters is the end result, and doing it the most efficient/faster/cheaper way and anything else are scrub/noob mental rules?

So, if you're a professional there's not "hack" techniques, but to real elite guys, anything goes as long as the end result looks professional?

Can any "pro" here tell me if they "cheat" on the industry.

🧵 How hard is it to animate?

Anonymous No. 835980

Assuming I get good at rigging, how hard it is? I just watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceRS2MToYE0 and realized the guy took around 1 year to finish this. Was it because he did it as a hobby, dedicating only a couple hours to it every day? Or did he really slave himself ten hours a day just to be able to put out a few minutes after what easily were 365K hours of work? According to himself, only the model of Zoe is of his doing, the background is a Quixel megascan.
The model itself though, it looks rather simple to me if you remove the particle/xgen fur and the combined maps.

This is my 3rd time trying to get into 3DCG and so far there's only one thing standing in my way:
Blender UI
Why is that shit so convoluted? Why does everything have to be a shitty keyboard shortcut? Why does it try to do so many things at once?
How does the UI in Maya or 3ds Max compare?

Anonymous No. 835868

During a maths test there was a question about 3D shapes and I wrote they where all 2D due to the fact that if they where 3D I could hold them physically, anyways that put me at the bottom class then next year I got put in the top class for my test that year (this was when I was in 2nd grade)
>Status: I'm still stupid
anyways I told them that a cube is just a hexagon with weird lines

🧵 Stupid Questions Thread

Anonymous No. 835791

how do you approach modifying an existing mesh in zbrush? i get how to actually import and start doing stuff, but i feel like you lose a ton of detail if you attempt to dynamesh, since it clips apart a lot of the elements inside it.

Do you just usually try to start from scratch, or can you work with it by adjusting the settings in the dynamesh so it keeps the same consistency on the mesh?

Or, assuming the mesh is all quads, do you subdivide for more detail to adjust things?

i'm just confused on what to do here. a friend wanted me to modify a female character to have different hair, but taking off the existing hair and having a blank region on the skull messes with me, so i try to fill it, but it fills with the most chaotic notching around the edges. what the fuck do i do? i feel like unless i start from the beginning i can't understand how to approach this.

I can sculpt the geometry how i want, but i just can't integrate it later on. am i just inept with 3d modelling workflows? Going in, cutting into the mesh, then filling it or merging another piece of geometry is just hard as hell to me, but to make the same thing from scratch is easy as hell. it just doesn't make sense.
