🧵 Hanging by asphyxiation vs by broken neck

Maybe this should go to /diy/ since they have the banner and all but you'll probably do. Which method do you reckon is faster and less painful? The first is probably minutes of squirming and clawing at my neck, since tying my hands behind me by myself as i'm on the "bucket" probably wouldn't work, the second maybe minutes as a disembodied head with everything at the bottom hurting. Is a high dive probably better, with everything turning into mush instantly?

Anyone know how I can get to view the returned data of SQL injection?
Let's say I enter code to return a whole database containing usernames and passwords, how can I then display them or send them to my computer.
I know of "INTO OUTFILE" which creates a file containing the info on the server, I want the data on my computer or to at least view it on the screen.

Suppose I am a King (absolute monarch) from a small country. How much would my average travel expenses cost (armored car motorcade and aeroplane) when I need to meet foreign dignitaries abroad and is it more practical for me and my entourage to fly through my own jet plane?

🧵 A mechanical design engineer looking to possibly switch to electromechanical?
Anonymous at Sun, 9 Jun 2024 04:47:16 UTC No. 16223754
I'm a mechanical design engineer. What I do is purely mechanical, i.e. machine parts, dynamics, hydraulics etc...
Already have a decent understanding of mathematics and physics, basic electrical too, but I want to add practical electrical/electronic engineering knowledge to my repertoire.
Rather than just resort to reading textbooks (still welcome), I would like recommendations on additional resources/practices I can use to help me achieve this.
I'm additionally looking for advice on what sub-disciplines of electrical/electronic I should focus on to broaden the scope of solutions I can conceptualize (i.e. a pure mechanical solution isn't always ideal, but being over reliant on electrical can also be bad practice, theres usually a sweet spot)
I think anything related to magnets + controls is pretty cool, but cool and useful aren't always related
🧵 Oral microbiome thread: no teeth brushing edition
Anonymous at Sun, 9 Jun 2024 04:22:30 UTC No. 16223721
Haven't brushed my teeth in 1 year and 4 months. I used to maintain a normal mouth hygiene routine before using toothbrush, tongue scraper and gentle toothpastes, usually non fluoridated. My teeth were fine. But I would get a sore throat and stuffy nose about once a month for a few days. Due to me suffering a complete meltdown of structure in my days and general disinterest in wordly affairs I stopped brushing my teeth. Ever since that day I haven't had 1 moment of sore throat or stuffy nose. I am assuming the bacteria that I'm growing in my mouth prevent other illness causing bacteria to inflame my throat and nose. My back teeth are starting to form cavities unfortunately so I want to resume brushing soon. Surprisingly my teeth formed no plaque. I only rinsed my mouth with normal water after meals and in the morning after waking up. Also my breath smelled fine. No bad odors as described by several people that I've told this. I've noticed for some people that I can feel a terrible smelling breath from them few hours after I know they've brushed their teeth. So there's something terribly wrong with toothpastes, it's not just me. How do I maintain the benefit of rotmaxxing my teeth while also not letting them rot? Also it's ridiculous I have to wait 300 seconds for the captcha to appear. 4chud wtf???

🗑️ 🧵 "Science" as Nu-Religion
Anonymous at Sun, 9 Jun 2024 02:27:31 UTC No. 16223525
For the sake of this discussion, assume with me that (in practice) all modern metaphysical-moral-spiritual systems (what have you) are incapable of outfitting devotees with the cognitive tools/heuristics necessary to cope properly with reality (and by reality I mean the totality of material existence accessible to human/human-derivatives/general sapients), or that such capability is locked behind radical transformation of the system itself. Assume further with me that this lack has generated an environment in which the modern Enlightenment based and industrially modified scientific social apparatus is being identified to some extent as a semi-priesthood promulgating the "religion" of "Science" (putting aside for now the contributions of ancient priesthoods, particularly those of the Near East, to the form and content of the early body of human scientific knowledge) in perhaps a subliminal way.
Do YOU think that this identification is logically grounded at all? Are YOU excited, terrified, or utterly ambivalent towards the evolution of a class of priest-scientists putting forth moral dogmas with the gravitas of thousands of years of painful and beautiful refinement but not necessarily providing any grounding whatsoever to said dogmas? Do YOU think that public perception of professional scientists as such will be a help or a hindrance to the continued development of scientific knowledge in our current times?
Also, if you think that this is not the case at all just post your favorite textbook on any STEM subject.
Pictured is annoying cultish behavior bringing this to mind.
