In Western Europe it has been raining almost every day for about a year now with mild temperatures in all seasons. According to The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute the main cause (disregarding El NiƱo) of this recent development (there were four clearly distinct seasons a few decades ago) is warming of the Atlantic Ocean.
Now this development and the official narrative of The Science has an obvious catch: the consequences of warming are not straightforward, not predictable, not the same for all parts of the world and not necessarily a problem for every region. On top of that it's remarkable that The Netherlands has also experienced a periods of drought a few years ago which was attributed to warming as well by the same institute.
So long story short: doesn't the main problem with warming boil down to politicians not being able to anticipate the unpredictable consequences and therefore prefer a sweeping approach which itself may be more disruptive for people's living conditions than figuring out what's appropriate on a local scale?

š§µ To those who may doubt the efficacy of deep breathing - it isn't just in your head:
Anonymous at Mon, 10 Jun 2024 12:33:09 UTC No. 16226678
I used to really doubt that breathing deeply did anything; like a lot of people I kind of scoffed at the idea that if you're feeling anxious or stressed, you can just breathe and it'll calm you down.
But the reason breathing is such a core component of meditation is that it's very, very effective.
Deep breathing (particularly exhaling), is linked to:
Regulating the responses of the autonomic nervous system (an unconscious part of the peripheral nervous system involved in the fight or flight response)
Enhances the response of the vagus nerve, which in turn:
Activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which slows your body's fight or flight and calms it down physiologically
You can do some googling, but there is enough evidence to show that deep breathing is effective in that it is your conscious way of communicating with your body's unconscious responses to anxiety and stress. Understanding that may be one way of improving meditation efficacy.
also, HUGE PROTIP:
>A quick way to reduce stress, anger and anxiety is to fill the sink with cold water, hold your breath and dunk your face in it. There is a reflex triggered by the holding of breath and the cold on nose and forehead that lowers your heart rate and other physiological symptoms of stress, anger and anxiety. It is part of TIPP and is a proven way to calm down. Even helps your body wind down for sleep, which is why washing the face with cold water in the morning is counterproductive to waking up. A hot shower is a better way, in terms of waking up.

It's 4chan's most verbotten topic. You can't discuss it here on /pol/ or you get an instaban. And you can't discuss it over on /x/ or you get an instaban. Mods get butthurt as fuck. 4chan is quite possibly the most censored social media site I've ever posted on in my life, which is incredible since it owes it's entire existence to this idea of "free speech", which it clearly doesn't profess for anyone other than itself.
I'm SO over this shit site, which is literally nothing more than rich kids trying to blame jews or other scapegoats for their rich family's own crimes. Mods should just ban me forever. No more purpose to me ever posting here
