Can the mind be considered a type of manifold?
If not, and it is a physical substance distinct from but interconnected with the brain, then what is the shape of the mind, that’s not its underlying neurological architecture?
If it has no geometric dimensions, does it even exist as a physical object?
Would “mind” in that sense be an antiquated concept?
Would we be better off considering ourselves to be “mindless” brains?

🗑️ 🧵 My problem with evolution

Anonymous No. 16451732

How do you go from an egg laying animal to producing live young? That’s not gonna happen they’re just going to keep producing eggs because that’s how they reproduce! Did they go from laying eggs to 1 day a mammal was born from a non mammal? Because how else would that process look like? How do you go from a non mammal to a mammal? Because if you have a non mammal slowly evolving to a mammal it’s just gonna die. If it somehow slowly evolved to a mammal from a non-mammal then what percentage does it birth live young and what percentage does it lay eggs? And how would that percentage work? You need to demonstrate it’s possible for an egg layer to slowly evolve to birth live young because that doesn’t make sense at all. How would that slowly change over time? There’s never been a single observed case of a genetic mutation which has actually been beneficial.

It's possible to induce someone to breath in a chemical that crosses the blood brain barrier and cell phones and radio waves can be used to induce headaches.

Also Henry Fort and The Book of the Damned is the big red book that won't fit on a coffee table as referenced in the 1995 film Hackers.

🧵 Instantaneous axis of rotation: wtf?

Anonymous No. 16451425

(no this isn't hw, I'm just studying physics on my own)
The goal is basically to find the instantaneous axis of rotation of the small discs that's on the big disc and the angular velocity around this axis.

Now I suspect it's either on the edge of the small disc that's closest to the central axis or even more trivially, it' just it's own fucking axis that moves around the central axis with w1.

But what's the exact theory behind finding it and calculating angular velocity around IAR?

I literally went through all the textbooks I could find AND ALL OF THEM LITERALLY ONLY SHOW THAT ROLLING CYLINDER PROBLEM BUT SAY NOTHING GENERAL ABOUT THE IAR FFS.

The only bit I know is that it's supposed to be in the point where the object is not moving atm.

Any sources or smth? Thanks.

🧵 Where does physics take a wrong turn?

Anonymous No. 16451284

Based on this paper, QED is wrong: https://vixra.org/pdf/2002.0011v1.pdf

>Quantum electrodynamics (QED) is considered the most accurate theory in the history of science. However, this precision is based on a single experimental value: the
anomalous magnetic moment of the electron (g-factor). An examination of QED history
reveals that this value was obtained using illegitimate mathematical traps, manipulations and tricks. These traps included the fraud of Kroll & Karplus, who acknowledged
that they lied in their presentation of the most relevant calculation in QED history.
As we will demonstrate in this paper, the Kroll & Karplus scandal was not a unique
event. Instead, the scandal represented the fraudulent manner in which physics has been
conducted from the creation of QED through today.

Author of the paper responded here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BrilliantLightPower/comments/ffnnxw/something_rotten_in_the_state_of_qed/

Why do statisticians carry out their results and report them to decimal place precision when they have 3% margins of error?
Isn't that being intentionally misleading on their part?
They also don't even report what their standards for error measurement is when they report 3%, everyone probably presumes them mean one SD, but they don't say that anywhere and they could be going by any other criteria such as FWHM, 50%, etc. so that makes their quoted margin of error completely meaningless or at least intentionally confusing.
Nobody who does this kind of thing should be allow to call themselves a statistician.

Invention idea. Rip this apart and tell me why I'm wrong.

Ok, here's the idea - it's a desalination plant like the windtrap from Dune.

You make a mega structure like the windtrap from Dune 2000 (pictured). You then coat the outside of the shell with solar panels and the inside with thermoelectric strips that make it colder on the inside. So after a while there should be a cloud within this several story building.

Then what you do is you put a Tesla coil on the inside so that when it goes off the lightning makes it rain. It turns out that lightning inside clouds can make it rain! Which might work even on smaller clouds with less moisture content.

You'd probably have to make it quite large to have the necessary efficiency gains. And I don't know if this would work all the time as you might just end up sucking all the moisture out of the air around the windtrap unless there was significant amounts of wind.

Thoughts?
