🧵 Backhold Wrestling

Anonymous No. 150998

What do you guys think about backhold wrestling? This style of folk wrestling was popular in England,Scotland,Ireland,Iceland,Sardinia... The over-under clinch is also applied in most belt wrestling styles. You can do Judo type trips, throws and sweeps, plus bodylock takedowns. I have tried it out with some friends and it's great fun to do it in grass. I urge you guys to try it out.

🗑️ 🧵 Should groin shots be legal in mma?

Anonymous No. 150915

It sounds a little crazy but think about it
>fighters wear cups so groin strikes will not be as devastating as in day to day life
>fighters probably pretend their balls hurt more than they actually do because they know the ref will stop the fight
>liver shots also hurt and they're legal
>groin strikes are legal in real muay thai

Hello boys (and girls (boys)),
I really enjoy standup paddling and now want to get into windsurfing. I want to buy a Windsup and start with a cheap one, just to see if I enjoy it.

I dont want to spend more than 400€. Currently I am looking at these two:

https://www.decathlon.de/p/mp/virtufit/supboard-surfer-305-orange-inklusive-windsegel-und-zubehor/_/R-p-cd62ede0-c8f1-4c9f-aa4f-de023d27e1ee?mc=cd62ede0-c8f1-4c9f-aa4f-de023d27e1ee_c20&channable=03b85769640065303561373465642d343535392d343730362d626135342d623838646235623731363365f2&utm_medium=free&utm_source=feed

and

https://www.kaufland.de/product/463530180/?search_value=windsurf

which one of these should I get or are there maybe others that I should take a look at?

best regards,
Jürgen Schmitt

🧵 Creating my own martial art

Anonymous No. 150296

I'm creating my own martial art based around grip fighting and standing locks/chokes. I'm gonna call it, American Boa Fighting or ABF. Here's the premise:

>Objective:
-One of the men must successfully snatch one of the following: The wrist, elbow, shoulder, neck, knee, ankle, foot, hand with a powerful grip. They must fight to completely control that appendage by either locking or choking it to the point were the receiving opponent either taps or is render physically unfit to continue fighting.

>Rules:
-Two men in respective MMA or other non-loose clothing enter onto a mat. Clothing that are loose-fitting in nature such as a traditional Jiu-Jitsu Gi or other Gi is prohibited. No gloves or footwear are allowed.

-Striking is relatively prohibited as well as takedowns; neither fighter can punch, kick, elbow, heel strike, blade strike, knee, throw, etc. The only striking that can be accepted is grip breaking such as slapping down a hand or blocking a potential grab, Choking is permitted however and is encouraged as one of the techniques for winning.

-The following techniques are allowed: Any joint locks or blood/air chokes.

-Fighters fight 3 rounds, all rounds are untimed and are finished once either fighter wins.

>Stance:
-The standard, orthodox fighting stance is similar to that of a Thai Boxing stance. The difference is that in ABF, a fighter's arms are more clenched with the elbows pressed into the fighter's abdomen. The hands are open for grappling instead of closed into a fist. In typical fighter stance, the left leg and arm is front while the right leg and arm are back. The fighter must shoot his hand out to grab the other fighter's chosen appendage.

"I never asked for this" edition

FAQ on buying a bike that nobody reads anyway:
> What good bike can I get for under $500?
a stolen bike. Possibly a newer used entry level hardtail but don't expect it to survive rock gardens, jumps, or drops. Or an older mtb which won't be as good as newer ones and will still have a front derailleur, but it'll be good enough.
> What good bike can I get for under $1000
Good used hardtail, new entry level hardtail
> What good bike can I get for under $2000?
New Hardtail, decent used full suspension
> What good bike can I get for under $3000?
Used full suspension, decent entry level full suspension but prepared to put more money into it.
> What are the excellent value brands?
Marin, Commencal, Canyon, Polygon, YT, Propain, Kona, and many more. Sometimes the expensive brands have an excellent value bike
> What are the differences between an XC, Trail, Enduro, and Downhill bikes?
XC bikes are for going up fast, go down not as fast. Trail bikes are for going up and down. Enduro bikes are for going down fast, and slower up. Downhill bikes are for going down really fast, needs a ski lift, truck, or the rider pushing it to go up.

🧵 My hypothesis about why are giants bad at MMA and kickboxing

Anonymous No. 149875

>they are slow
Think about how fast are flyweights compared to super heavyweights. Of course this reason alone isn't enough to say bigger is better but it's enough to say 2x bigger isn't 2x better. The bigger guy's advantage will be a bit smaller than it may seem.
>they train weird kinds of wrestling
Sumo, pro wrestling and ssireum instead of folkstyle, freestyle and greco
>some of them are obesse ass
Fat doesn't give you strenght but can effectively slow you down.
>small talent pool
Probably the most important issue. Have you ever met a >265 lbs guy who would be able to run more than 100 yards? I don't think so because they are extremely rare. For every world class ~240 lbs fighter there are probably 200 total tomato cans, 100 decent amateur fighters, 50 pro journeymen and 5 gatekeepers. If there is like 20 >290 lbs fighters in the world, statistically non them is a really talented one but people (especially Japs) like to watch giants so they will promote guys who have no talent and should never be professional fighters as if they were gatekeepers.

🧵 Savate

Anonymous No. 149859

Is savate an unarmed combat style, or an armed one? Many savate kicks are only viable if you wear boots, specially steel toed boots as many kicks are given with the toes. Seeing how this piece of equipment is necessary for it's viability, does this mean that it's a weapons art, with steel toed sailor boots turned into weapons? Karate has "weapons" that are repurposed tools, so maybe I thought with savate, you could say something similar.

🧵 Does HEMA/Swordfighting require Higher intelligence than Boxing/MMA

Anonymous No. 149633

I've noticed that HEMA classes are way more mentally taxing and complicated than say a boxing class, It's way harder to remember the techniques and during sparring there's less room for error because the fighting is inherently more technical and the slightest mistake was fatal back in the old times, so you have to analyze and calculate your moves more quickly and efficiently. Also, Physical Strength and might is alot more useful in boxing and mma and allowed people like deontay wilder to climb the ranks just by having mean right and left, Whereas in HEMA strength isn't enough, Not only do you need explosive agile footwork, You need to have technical swordplay skills, Set up traps, Defend while offending, and ability to work inwards because blade fighting requires to fringe martial arts exchanges like wingchun trapping/chi sao. You can find boxing and mma champions that are pretty low iq like mike tyson but I can't imagine a kendo or fencing champion with an IQ lower than 110.

🧵 Minimizing bruising?

Anonymous No. 149433

Hey guys I have a fight club with my friends where we beat the shit out eachother. It seems though that I get more bruises than my friends which is odd - I do fight less as I am injured from something else but my bruises are literally huge and purple every time, making me look like a junkie.

How do I minimize this? Is it possible to do this with dietary changes/conditioning/excercises?

I've also been told by my folks that I can get blood clots and die from bruising lol but I dont believe it - in any case should I?

Thanks anons. Of course I'll try my best to get hit less lol.
