🧵 Photogrammetry of faces

Anonymous No. 902748

Say I've decided to recreate a family photo and have numerous pictures of the people in it who are inconveniently dead and unavailable for posing for me. What's the preferred method for getting a basic head mesh from photos I can either use as-is or transfer via something like shrink wrap to another figure? Everything I've seen about video as a source points towards deepfakes which afaik can't spit out meshes, but if I'm wrong there correct me.
FaceBuilder seems to have problems with deep nasolabial folds and the more pictures you throw at it, the worse the results are unless the subject is completely neutral expression.

🧵 How to guarantee yourself employment at any studio you like

Anonymous No. 902662

Figure out how to render photorealistic food. No, seriously. Food is one of the very few big things left that 3DCG artists have yet to truly master. It's challenging to create assets of food that look appetizing and nobody's cracked the code to determine why. You would have zero issues finding work ANYWHERE, even for big studios like Pixar, Sony, DreamWorks, ILM, and Wētā. You absolutely will get hired, no questions asked.

What the fuck is wrong with me!? Why can't I gitgud after ten fucking years! Ten years and this is the best I can make! All my friends are now working in the industry so why can't I learn to make a god damn car tire or shoes instead of wasting time making half baked sculps in Zbrush!

Yes. Even Marco Plouffe who you'd think only sits in Zbrush all day and says drawing isn't really his thing made pic related reference in his sketch book 12 years ago and imported it into Zbrush. Time to start drawing boxes.

The other day /v/ anons helped me learn to sculpt with proper proportions(well at least almost proper proportions because I want to go for the coomer aesthetic). They drew over what I was doing wrong with paint so I could learn.

I'm trying to sculpt the bottom part of her body now. I think I've blocked out the thighs and legs alright. Are the glutes alright as well? Would it be possible for you guys to teach me how I could do this better? Whatever feedback you guys might have, can you like draw over it in red sketch in paint? I have a hard time learning from stuff. Sorry for the bother.

Should I get Zbrush Core? So far I've been sculpting in blender. I've learnt blocking out forms or making decent sculpts would my sculpts be better if I used Zbrush? ZbrushCore is 10$ a month, I could try it for a month.

What do you guys think? Should i make the switch? I'm a hobbyist making video games btw.

Yes, he's shit.
Still most of the finished non WIP shit posted here is made by him.

Pretty much every other fucking thread is retards making their shitty console war threads about industry pro tricks.

AND YET THEY DONT POST NOTHING.

Second picture follow sorry if this isn't the place for these questions.

This board has existed since January 19, 2005. Surely at least someone here had to have found work at a large and famous studio, if success is measured that way.

Why in god's name do they refuse to make their texturing suite more like Substance Painter? Even the biggest of Blendlets admit that Substance Painter is a necessity for good texturing without becoming a wizard with the node editor.
>just go to any Blender community and I promise you'll find at least a handful of artists who use Substance and maybe Photoshop or GIMP, but otherwise do everything else in Blender
